Joanne Shaw Taylor
Wicked Soul (Single)
Axehouse Music
Joanne Shaw Taylor has been entertaining audiences since she was discovered by Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) at the age of sixteen. Her new album ‘The Dirty Truth’ released on her own boutique record label has received acclaim from publications such as The Sunday Times, The Sunday Telegraph, Blues Matters magazine and countless others.
‘Wicked Soul’ is the new single taken from the album and was produced by Jim Gaines who produced her debut album ‘White Sugar’. The rhythm section of bass and drums is really strong as Joanne’s vocals shine at the forefront and it is no surprise that she was voted “Best British Female Vocalist” at the British Blues Awards in 2010 and 2011.
Her electric guitar just rings out beautifully during the solo and the song has really strong angry lyrics which make it perfect for radio airplay. Joanne is being championed by the radio station Planet Rock who are not playing the track but have also arranged an exclusive 22-date UK tour for her. This marks the very first time that Planet Rock presents a full UK tour by an established UK artist.
‘Wicked Soul’ is a really catchy blues-rock single that is one of Joanne Shaw Taylor’s best pieces of material because it is a slight return to her original sound but it is not a carbon copy. The raw emotion and fluidity in her playing is apparent in the whole of her brand new album. However, although her recordings are fantastic her musicianship is really appreciated in a live setting so buy your tickets now as her UK dates are selling fast.
