This new single finds Millier singing in a dreamy medium-high voice over a blissed out jangling backdrop, rinsed through with electronica touches and a winsome melody. The song will appeal to followers of Keane or Starsailor and females will find it easy to sing along. That hasn’t done Train or Maroon 5 any harm. Here’s is the video premiere which we are delighted to present…

Having performed twice on The X Factor (one of those at the request of the producers), UK singer-songwriter, James Millier, is a highly innovative home-grown talent whose performances command audiences to take notice. Now, with a new electronic/folk fused sound, which defines who he really is as an artist, James Millier announces the release of his new single ‘This Life’, out Friday 19th October 2018.

‘This Life’ saw the muses align for James Millier. The stage was set, the inspiration was flowing and ‘This Life’ was a song that just had to be created. Taking just x2 days from conception to end production, ‘This Life’, sees a fresh new sounds from James Millier; an evolution of an electronic/folk fusion that’s so unique and distinct that it commands you sit up and listen. The story of ‘This Life’ is a biographical tale about James’ mum, who’d been diagnosed with a rare medical condition giving James the realisation that life is short, but it’s our’s for the taking – it’s there for those who want it. ‘This Life’ is James’ gift to her.

Reared on a rich musical diet of ‘80s rock such as Status Quo, Tina Turner and Meatloaf (all his mum’s favourites), James was bred with a passion for music from his early years. During his mid 20s, James spent a lot of time auditioning for the likes of The X Factor. He quickly realised that the process was more of an entertainment TV show, primarily for the cameras, a platform for talent to seize success very quickly. The turning point came when James hit 25. He lost his stepdad, who’d always been a great support in James’ musical career, and losing that support brought home the realisation that he needed to follow his passion at all costs. His mum then presented him with a ‘vocal coaching voucher’ – the stage was set.

His new singing coach was wholly inspirational and she encouraged him to join the Phoenix Choir. Within months, James found himself recording an album with the choir, followed quickly by a tour of Northern Ireland. The X Factor came knocking again, requesting the choir to perform for the show, delivering a song for each judge: ‘Survivor’ for Kelly Rowland, ‘Rule The World’ for Gary Barlow and Tulisa was given an N-Dubs track; whilst the live audience were gifted by a version of ‘Delila’. The choir also sang whilst the Olympic Torch for the UK Olympics was being handed over in Swansea.

But outstanding talent always shines its individual beacon and James found himself needing to write and record his own tracks. His first EP ‘Fall With Fear’ was released in 2013, during which time James met Olli Daffarn at River Studios, the chemistry was instant and James and Ollie commenced a production collaboration together, developing and evolving James’ sound. It was a trip to France that gave James an appetite for electronic music when he met with French musician, Max Season.

James Millier’s first single, oozing with his newly found passion of ‘electronic’ music, was released at the beginning of 2018. ‘This Life’ is a compelling evolution of that sound, demonstrating an electronic-folk fusion that set James Millier apart from the competition. Enjoy ‘This Life’.
