Who is in JAYLER and what do they play?

Jayler are a 4-piece rock band from the Midlands. We play our own original music that’s in the style of 70s classic rock with a modern twist.

James and Tyler first met at an open mic night in Tamworth 2021, they met Ed and Ricky in their college class and the band formed in early 2022.

The EP allowed us to show the world a bit of what Jayler is about, we have a lot of different influences across different genres, and we hope that those come across with the hard rock sound of no woman, to the folk sounds of I’ll meet you there. It was self-produced.

Tyler has always favoured Goldtop Gibson Les Paul guitars. James plays a Red Gibson SG. Ricky plays a variety of Fender Bass guitars. Ed has always played Ludwig drums.

We are all around the Birmingham area so we will go with that. The Home of Rock Music!

We started recording the EP right in the middle of summer in a barn with no AC and no windows, it was absolutely boiling. When we were recording, we had to turn the fans off to avoid any noise so while recording it was a sweat box!

The song isn’t supposed to be taken in any particular way, but essentially, it’s about getting out of a relationship and coming out of it stronger.

This year we are on our first UK tour in April/May with Kira Mac which we can’t wait for! We also have many other great gigs across the country lined up this year which you can find info about online. We are going abroad to Lindos, Greece which is exciting!

James likes to look after his voice by drinking honey and lemon (hot drink) also some fruit teas and lots of water to keep his vocals hydrated. He does vocal warmups before shows, just after sound check. He also has a nebuliser to steam his vocals before and after shows.

(James’ View)

I would say you can hear me at my happiest in take me home as it’s such an uplifting song talking about doing what I love playing and watching bands and artist and I think it’s what joins people together.

You can hear me at my angriest in evil or no woman as it’s the emotional side of a heartbreak and everyone can relate to those songs as everyone has a heart break at one point in their life.

You can hear me at my most reflective in I’ll meet you there as it’s a song about a promise land and Mother Nature if she was a person and what she would say if she saw the world today with all the politics, pollution, and war.

Some of James’ inspirations are Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, John Denver, Bob Dylan, Joe Elliot, Steve Perry, Bon Scott

Tyler’s main inspirations are Angus Young, David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, Slash and Nuno Bettencourt.

Ricky: Jimi Hendrix, James Jamerson, Pino Palladino, Led Zeppelin and Greta Van Fleet.

Ed: Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Greta Van Fleet.

I would say we are at our happiest when the crowd is really involved in the show, especially with our original music and everyone is singing along and dancing to them, it really makes you feel proud of the music.
