Etham
Gone In the Morning (Single)
(Independent)
18 year-old British soul singer Etham is back with a new single ‘Gone In the Morning’ after his debut ‘Cold Love’. You can read our review of ‘Cold Love’ here: https://justlistentothis.co.uk/reviews/etham-cold-love-single/
The intro showcases Etham’s smooth vocals which then blend beautifully with the RnB music which reminds me of The Weeknd or early Ed Sheeran. The production has that club vibe and I think the piano and clicking fingers in the middle is a really funky idea. This track has real potential when it comes to possible radio airplay and I think this would be right up Kiss FM’s street due to its late night soul approach.
Etham would appeal to fans of of artists such as The Weeknd and Lianne La Havas and although the lyrics aren’t as memorable as current hits such as ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ or Sheeran’s ‘Sing’, Etham’s material suits his voice and I would like to hear perform in a live setting with a full band.
You often hear about people who are future stars of the music industry and you haven’t heard anything by them either live or recorded. You think ‘How can you predict their success when no one has heard any of their material?’ Well, having heard two of his singles I can come to the conclusion that ‘I can 2016 being a very big year for Etham if his current output of neo-soul continues’.
