South London Duo Internet Cafe Share Lapsley Co-Written Debut Single ‘Sign of the Times’

South-London duo Internet Cafe release the radiant debut single ‘Sign of the Times’ co-written with Låpsley.

Bringing together raw UK electronic music, with elements of jungle, R&B and alternative-pop, the duo have quickly gained attention for their live sound, supporting Good Neighbours on their UK tour, and opening for Vendredi sur Mer at XOYO.

Sharing a 1 bedroom ground floor flat in South London, all their music is written and produced in this very space, creating an unapologetic reflection of their own influences and experiences. Speaking directly to their despondent younger generation with music focusing on finding your way as a young adult, growing up in a big city, the duo (Imi Smith – vocals Luke Ferrero – production) captures a vibrant originality through their gritty, yet infectious and accessible sound.

The debut single ‘Sign of the Times’, co-written with Låpsley captures the depth of the duo’s sound. Built around driving beats, swelling synths and subtle guitar, Imi’s radiant lead vocals dance above the backdrop bringing ethereal, emotive heart to the track. As the track reaches the chorus the high energy beat bursts into life, driving the track forward with a sense of purpose and a radiant danceability.

Speaking about the single, the duo explains. “We’re beyond excited to finally be releasing our debut single, ‘Sign of the Times’. We met on a dating app 4 years ago and instantly bonded over a mutual love for breaks, bass, and alt-pop. This single focuses on the shared stresses of our disconnected generation and the pressures of trying to build a life as a young person in a big city”

After meeting on a dating app and realising their shared love for making music, the project followed naturally. SoundCloud demo releases, early sold out live performances and social media traction have given the duo a buzz prior to their first formal release.

During their first demo roll out, they repurposed 250+ floppy disks with NFC chips loaded with an early track titled ‘Same Place’. These were then posted out directly to fans for free so they could hear the track before anyone else. 2026 sees the duo finally put the cogs in motion with their long awaited first project.

They have supported Good Neighbours on their sold-out UK tour, been selected as a Live Nation ‘Ones to Watch 2025’ artist at The George Tavern and an AEG ‘Rising Artists 2025’ act at Folklore, Hoxton, with both showcases selling out. They have also performed at 180 House’s ‘Future First’ showcase, supported Lolina at Below Stone Nest for Bird on the Wire presents ‘Fly the Nest’ (sold out), and supported Vendredi sur Mer at XOYO for Bird on the Wire (sold out).

The debut single ‘Sign of the Times’ is the first of a series of releases due through 2026.
