We play feel-good rock ‘n’ roll for the soul. Our never-ending mission to give you the night you’ll never forget, a break away from the monotony and tyranny of life, and to leave anybody who’ll give us a chance smiling from ear to ear. (We accept no responsibility for ringing in said ears, due to the size and number of our Marshall cabs!)
Your new album ‘Bittersweet Satisfaction’ is out now. How did you want to approach the making of the album?
The songwriting on this album has been more meticulous and thorough than ever before. We really have put every part of ourselves into it, we have refined and polished the songs until they were how we wanted them. We wanted this to be the best Bad Touch album ever and the workload has been higher than ever before. No pain, no gain, and we are so happy with the result!
Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?
We all hail from “near as makes no difference” East Dereham in Norfolk. Hmmm, in just five words?… Lush, Green, Rural, Friendly and (as long as we’re not rehearsing) Quiet…
What is the inspiration/story behind your single ‘Nothing Wrong With That’?
“Nothing Wrong With That” is a song for everyone that encompasses the Bad Touch mantra “As long as you carry a song in your heart, and a smile on your face, then nothing can get you down.” The song’s first ideas came together during a time when there was a lot of unrest, fear of the unknown, and we all were just getting through day by day, in whatever way we could. A time when we felt the world could use a little lift to somewhere a little bit brighter. So whatever is getting you down, this song is here to say you’re not alone, we are with you, and whatever way you need to get through the bad times… a good book, some good company… or some good wine!… we say… there’s nothing wrong with that.
Do you have any interesting, memorable or funny stories from the album recording sessions?
We’ve been a band for over a decade now, so in order to minimise wasted pennies, we like to think that we’ve got studio-time down to a cold and clinical precision! But of course, we have fun and enjoy our time making our specific brand of art, and when things go pear-shaped that’s even funnier! We were lucky enough to head back to the brand-new Marshall Studio, located at the infamous amp makers HQ, with engineers Adam & Ollie, to which we owe a great deal. (Cheers lads) If you want to see some of the frivolities from our first time there, check out our mini rockumentary “Still Dirty, Nearly Thirty” on YouTube/BadTouchRocksTV!
Do you have any favoured stage instruments?
As the singer, I don’t get a chance to swing around a mighty Gibson Les Paul… but the boys (Rob & Seeks) love to indeed! They do let me out with a tambourine every once in a while, though…
How do you look after your voices?
Hard liquor, hot curries, and big cigars.
Will you be supporting the release with any UK or European tour dates?
100%. We plan to take this album as far as it will let us. We will definitely be on tour in the UK in the spring of 2024, and we have everything crossed hoping that we can get into Europe as well. If we can make it work, we’re coming for you!
What are your plans for 2024?
So far we have tunnel vision with regards the new album, Bittersweet Satisfaction. All of our time and energies are going into making this album our biggest and best yet. As I have said, we will be touring it in the UK spring next year, and hopefully after that we will take it to Europe and play loads of festivals in the summer. 2024 is going to be a big year for Bad Touch.
What makes Bad Touch happy and what makes you unhappy?
Big question, so I’ll try to boil it down and keep it simple. Seeing smiling, sweaty people losing their minds at our shows is what we live for. Seeing people at shows not showing other gig-goers basic human respect is a big no-no for us. We are a family, and everyone is welcome without judgement or question.
