Chris Jagger Talks May 2025 UK Tour And More

Vocalist, songwriter and musician Chris Jagger will be embarking on an exclusive May 2025 UK Tour and took time to speak to us: 

When did you begin songwriting?

I’ve always written stories and poems, but I was in a show called Hair when I was around 22 and wrote some tunes staring then.

What is your earliest musical memory?

My mother singing to me

You will embark on an exclusive May 2025 headline UK Tour. How are you feeling about the tour and do any of the venues/locations hold any personal significance for you?

I’m looking forward to playing in England as its usually in Europe.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

Not to be hit by missiles and get people dancing.

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

Usually bring my own mic as at least others haven’t spat into it!
I have an AER bass unit which is pretty good

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

I live in a tiny place called Mudgley in Somerset within artillery distance of Glastonbury Tor and we have Roger Wilkins cider at the end of the lane

How do you look after your voice?

Best warm up before a show, but honestly I am quite lazy about it

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

I just read Peter Ackroyd’s bio of William Blake, so anything from his pen or accompanying his paintings and engravings.

Do you have a touring band, and if so, who is in it and what do they play?

I have a local 4 piece but on this trip we are going out with double bass, fiddle and myself on guitar and vocals

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

Good songwriters like John Prine or Guy Clark, Bobbie Dylan, then all the blues players including Willie Dixon

Is it difficult picking a setlist? Do you have a specific song selection process?

Start out strong then you can lay back a little.

What makes Chris Jagger happy and what makes you unhappy?

Its good when the sun shines and its been a long winter.
