Singer-songwriter Cole. will release his new single ‘This Is All I Dream’ on Friday 11th April 2025 followed by an EP later this year. He spoke to us about his new music and more:

When did you begin song writing?

At around the age of 14 I got into writing lyrics for other people, and then picked up the guitar shortly after.

What is your earliest musical memory?

Hearing my dad playing reggae at around five or six years old, and him talking to me about how it was a unique sound with a history.

You will release your new ‘Real World’ EP very soon. How did you want to approach the making of the EP?

I didn’t really have any plans to make an EP, the songs from this record were some of the first I’d written in a while that were cohesive, it was Mike Moore my producer who nudged me into the studio… and then I began enjoying it. A lot of the ideas came about aiming to make it the most cost-efficient it could be, hence some overdubs recorded later in the home studio.

Where did you record the EP and who produced it?

We recorded at Hoxa HQ in West Hampstead, and it was produced by Mike Moore from The Hours. We also had Patrick Walden (Babyshambles) recording on guitar and Seb Rochford (Gorillaz) on drums.

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the album recording sessions?

It was a pleasure to work with both Mike, Patrick and Seb, who are really good friends, so it’s just great being in their company.

You will release the single ‘This Is All I Dream’ on Friday 11th April 2025. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

We wanted to re-create the dreamlike feel of a relationship I’d been through, it was a tricky time for me, steeped in inertia and confusion, it’s about processing that relationship, finding a way forward and figuring it all out.

The track is accompanied by an official music video. What was the thought process behind the video and who directed it?

I just needed some visuals and didn’t want to overdo it! It’s shot and directed by myself and Piotr Obal who I’ve worked with on previous projects. It’s shot at the Alexander Estate in Camden, Pitor created these shape-shifting walkways, to represent the feeling of shifting reality and entanglement.

Was it a difficult EP to write?

I didn’t know I was writing an EP! I was just putting songs down on Logic and it turned into this, which will be the Real World EP.

Which of your new EP tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

They’re all reflective. Get Enough is I guess about being content with who you are and not trying to ‘want’ stuff too much.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

To have sung in tune and played in time.

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

I love my US custom Telecaster. It’s a real treat to play.

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

Clapham ‘……the rent is a crime’….

How do you look after your voice?

I should do this more. I barely remember to warm-up. I try not to smoke or shout.

Who designed the EP artwork?

My friend Osk Conway.

Who is in your touring band and what do they play?

James Stickland – bass, Nahuel Herrera or Jack Reilly on lead guitar, Radha Murhpy on synth and Harry Pike on the drums

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

I was just listening to the rapper Mike. He’s good. I keep hearing Perfume Genius, sounds cool. Don’t know much about him. I like all the heavyweights, Beatles, Dylan. Young, etc Radiohead, Arctics…all of em…

Do you have any live dates planned in the UK/Europe in 2025/2026?

Live dates are coming-up, we are currently performing local shows in South and West London, to really hone-in the live sound.

What makes Cole. happy and what makes you unhappy?

A good night’s sleep versus a bad one
