UK-based band Falling Into View have released their second single ‘On With The Show’, out now. The band chatted to us about the track, their musical influences and more:
Who is in Falling Into View, how did you meet and what do they play?
Falling into View are a 5 piece Americana/Country/Pop originals band from Hereford and Worcester, West Midlands, UK. Allan (guitars) and Gordy (drums/backing vox) have known each other since a previous incarnation of an originals band, Gordy and Rob (bass/backing vox) have been friends for a long time and used to work together. Rob and Bernie (lead guitar/backing vox) used to be in a covers band for many years. Alyssa (Lead vox/guitar) is Gordy’s daughter
What is your earliest musical memory?
Spread throughout the band with many different experiences and ages!
Alyssa: My earliest musical memory has to be seeing my Dad gigging when I was younger. Being surrounded by music and the enjoyment of playing it, it was no wonder I was always drawn to it.
Allan|: – mine is my Dad playing Elvis records back to back on a Sunday evening
Rob|: – my Dad playing Elvis records back to back on a Sunday evening
Gordy|: – listening to my mum and dads vinyl, mostly stuff like the Carpenters, Abba and some rock and roll, but also my grandad was a massive Matt Monro fan. Learnt piano as a kid but it wasn’t cool moving into my teenage years so taught myself drums!
Bernie|: – listening to my parents vinyl collection (and my Sister’s incessant playing of ABBA) but the first song I remember distinctly is Another Brick in the Wall.
You have your new single ‘On With The Show’ which is out now. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?
This is one of Alyssa’s compositions, she notes that this song is about being in a relationship, whether it be platonic or not, that is stuck in a vicious cycle, those times when you try and try to make the relationship work but in the end you have to embrace the change and see what life will be like if you break out of it
Was it a difficult song to write?
Alyssa started to write this during University and came back to it when the band started in April 2025. This is a usual part of Alyssa’s songwriting process with many songs and ideas underway awaiting completion!
Do you have a visualiser to accompany the single?
Not yet, will send one shortly!
Which of your tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?
For Allan Happiest|: Five Star Loving Angriest: Lights Are On Reflective: Things That I Thought Might One Day Be Useful
For Alyssa Happiest|: Long gone / Angriest; Too late in the game /Reflective; Things
For Gordy Happiest|: On with the Show Angriest: Lights are On Reflective: Waving at Planes
For Rob Happiest|: Waving at Planes / Angriest; Too Late in the game / Reflective; Things
For Bernie Happiest|: On with the Show Angriest: Lights are On Reflective: Waving at Planes
Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?
For Gordy: I have a couple of drum kits that I use venue dependent, either a 1974 Premier Olympic that I had restored and updated, or a Highwood Beech Custom (which uses 1976 Beech shells). Cymbal wise I use Sabian Artisan, Legacy HHX and AA. I use a Roland SPD-SX for live triggers and for the clicks. I have a number of snare drums to chose from but my go to is a 1968 Ludwig LM400
For Bernie: Fender Stratocaster, HELIX Multi-effects Unit, Fender Blues Deluxe Amp
Allan: Martin0028 acoustic my G&L asat tele and a handful of pedals: less is more!
Gordy|: I am a massive fan of books by Mike Gayle and would love to be able to contribute to a soundtrack if they ever became a TV Series or film. Essentially though I would love to hear our music in the background of any TV drama or soap!
Alyssa|: Ooooh, this is a good question, very tricky as a book lover but good! I’d love to have any involvement if there ever was to be a pure book adaptation of ‘Six of Crows’ outside of what we’ve had so far. But also, ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ by Suzanne Collins. The music and the involvement/influence of music in the narrative in the Hunger Games franchise are a huge inspiration for me.
Bernie|: The Count of Monte Cristo – love the story/book and plenty of emotional scope too
Allan|: Normal People Sally Rooney : so many tangled emotions to work with!
Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?
Hereford -> green, potholes, apples, ancestral, sheltered, home
Allan: West Malvern: steep, quirky, precipitous, hip/alternative artistic.
Do you have any live dates in the UK/Europe planned for 2025/2026?
We are playing at The Dragonffli in Pontypool on October 25th, other than that we are working on some more dates at venues and establishing links with bands of a similar genre with the aim of building enough of a scene to be able to put together and host gigs throughout the UK and beyond! If you are a venue, band, singer songwriter, duo that would love to put on a show with us then please do reach out!
Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?
Allan|: Too many influences to mention but my recommendation would be Jason Isbell who is, in my opinion the best songwriter of his generation
Rob|: My influences are not particularly relevant to FiV, with the exception of maybe Nick Drake and The Civil Wars, and at a push, The Rival Sons
Gordy|: Very varied, my early influences are bands like Thunder and Little Angels, I have tried to remain contemporary and I love bands like The 1975, Tors, Matchbox Twenty, Paramore and so many more!
Alyssa|: My musical influences range from Taylor Swift to Jacob Collier. Sabrina Carpenter, Lake Street Dive, Trousdale and The 1975.
Bernie|: To many influences to list but my recommendations are Quaker City Night Hawks and Tedeschi Trucks Band
What makes Falling Into View happy and what makes you unhappy?
Alyssa: I just love playing with these guys. The laughter, the camaraderie and just the pure joy playing music together brings us is what makes me happy.
