Félix Rabin Talks New Single, UK Tour and More

Félix Rabin — the talented young sensation of the Swiss rock scene and much acclaimed guitar virtuoso and live performer — is releasing his brand-new single ‘As She Comes‘ along with its accompanying video in anticipation of his forthcoming UK Autumn tour. He chatted to JLTT all about it:
You have released a new single called ‘As She Comes’. What was the story/inspiration behind that track?
‘As She Comes’ is an ode to a friend, who found the right words at the right
moments. This song is about the ones that will guide you when you need it the most.
It’s an ode to those who found us when we felt lost.» I wrote the song in March 2022.
The process felt very easy and natural as I wrote the song with its lyrics over two
days. We played this tune a couple times on stage, and then, months later, locked
ourselves in the studio, recorded it, and did our best to keep that vibe we felt the first
time we played it live. I deeply hope this tune will touch you, in a way or another.
In addition, the single is accompanied by a music video? How did you want to
approach that?
I mainly wanted to stick to the feelings the music gives me. I wanted to keep it
atmospheric, dreamy and nebulous. One of the things I was aiming for was to shoot
the music video in Paris, without making it obvious. So far, few people were able to
tell it was shot in Paris, so I’d say we did a good job haha!
November and early December will see you returning to the UK for your ninth tour
in the country. How are you feeling about the tour?
Really excited! We have a new set with new tracks, including As She Comes, and
I’m really looking forward to play those new songs live as well!
Who will be joining you in the band for the live dates?
Francesco Gagna on the guitar / James Morgan on the drums / Vincenzo
Capodivento on the bass.
Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?
My hometown is called Neuchâtel. It’s located in the north-west of Switzerland, a
few miles away from the French border. It’s a cute little town, with a gorgeous view
over the Alps and a lake.
Do you have any favourite stage instruments, effects, pedals etc?
For almost 10 years, I’ve been playing the same guitar: a Fender Stratocaster
Custom Shop (62 hybrid reissue). That one never left me since, and has been part of
all my UK tours since the first one.
Do you have any further new music releases planned in addition to ‘As She
Comes’?
Yes! Even though a precise date hasn’t been decided, As She Comes is part of an
upcoming EP, that’ll be released in 2024.
How do you look after your voice?
Lots of ginger, especially as winter is getting closer!
What makes Félix Rabin happy and what makes you unhappy?
What makes me happy: a good gig, a beautiful sunrise, a smile on a face… so many things!
What makes me unhappy? It’d be too grim to write down a list about that, but
I’d say I feel like the world is going mad and I wish we could all take the time to slow
down and take care of each other.
