The Fizz which consists of Cheryl Baker, Jay Aston and Mike Nolan will be performing a full headline show on Friday 28th June 2024 at Indigo at The O2 in London. How are you feeling about the show and performing in the capital?
Very excited we always love performing especially in London. (I used to live up the road! And got Married in Greenwich).
Given your extensive back catalogue is it difficult picking a setlist? Do you have a specific song selection process?
With regards to the set list we actually listen to our fans a lot, and we know there are certain songs that have to be included, but each time we do something we try to change the running order and add things that are what would be considered more rare for our regulars! We always end up doing an 80s medley , hits of the time.
Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?
As vocalist the only thing that’s really important is can we hear ourselves? It’s quite hard to be heard over a drum ,guitar and Bass amp .
That’s always the worry so good monitoring is key. It has to be right at sound check.
Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?
Hometown
SE London -Surrey
Actually rural
Leafy
Quiet
Healthy
Quaint .
You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?
One I’m writing. ‘La La Land’ meets ‘My week With Marilyn’.
Which of your tracks hear you at your most reflective?
‘Here to Eternity’ – Recorded during my tongue cancer battle.
How do you look after your voice?
Sleep and water .
Never strain
Are you working on/releasing any new music either as The Fizz or as solo artists?
There are no more Fizz albums on the cards in the near future .
But … I just released two solo albums and my third triple album will be out shortly called ‘Lamb or Lizard.’
What makes The Fizz happy and what makes you unhappy?
Fizz – Happy simple …
Great crowd , no traffic queues on route . Decent sound , no feedback!! 😝
Unhappy -the opposite of 👆.
