Coldplay’s 2016 Tour World Tour

Over the last decade Coldplay have cemented their legacy of as one of the biggest bands in the world. They’ve played numerous world tours, often consisting of stadium shows in some of the largest venues the world has to offer.

Their current tour, entitled ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ is well under way with the band due to play Hampden Park on June 7, and then head off to other parts of Europe before returning to the UK to play four huge shows at Wembley Stadium with support from Lianne La Havas, Reef and Alessia Cara.

During their tour, the summer months will see Chris Martin and the band play a headline slot at Glastonbury and iconic stadiums such as the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. Though very few shows will be as eagerly anticipated than their upcoming show in Las Vegas on September 1.

The band is no stranger to Las Vegas, but this time the trip to Sin City will be a little different. The MGM Resorts International are property kingpins in the region of Nevada, but their latest acquisition has reinstated their supremacy on the Strip.

Just recently they opened the new T-Mobile Arena – a purpose built concert arena in the middle of the Strip. The indoor arena holds 20,000 people, which makes it the biggest in Las Vegas and a whole 4,000 more seats than the MGM Garden Arena.

Although the arena only opened in April, it has already welcomed the recently reformed Guns N’ Roses, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, and The Killers, who opened the T-Mobile Arena to a sold out crowd.

Coldplay’s show will be another notch on the arena’s belt as this latest addition to the MGM’s growing portfolio, clearly shows that the casino operator is looking past its gaming floors in an effort to combat the losses the industry has incurred from its digital counterparts.

Digital portals have drastically affected the revenues of many of Las Vegas’ casinos due to the ease of play that their customer base enjoy. They also feature cutting edge Marvel and DC games which have become extremely popular with online players, and while casinos house these games, they tend not to get the recent releases until much later down the line, hence why many flock to leading gaming websites to play the latest releases.

Ordinarily, a casino operator would be content with the an venue such as the iconic Garden Arena, but the T-Mobile Arena opens up new possibilities to the MGM. While there’s talk of welcoming a professional sports team to Nevada to play their home games at the arena, the best in live entertainment seemingly looks like the MGM’s main priority currently. They are forecasted to make millions of dollars each year from music shows at the T-Mobile Arena – especially when they are showcasing the likes of Coldplay et al.

Other upcoming shows at the T-Mobile Arena include Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, George Strait, Drake and Five Finger Death Punch.
