For fans of those ‘special occasion’ gigs that everyone claims to have attended years later…just how did 4 million ravers fit on to Spike Island for the Roses ??…be aware that Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith is about to host a special night of music on Friday 3rd March 2017 when Man Doki Soulmates roll into town. This date is an exclusive one-off UK show as part of the group’s upcoming European tour and will include appearances from some of the biggest legends from the worlds of rock and jazz.
To explain – the “Soulmates” are a unique group of legendary Anglo-American icons – the project being the brainchild of wildcard Leslie Mandoki, one of the most influential music producers in Europe. He has previously worked with artists ranging from Placido Domingo to Phil Collins and Lionel Richie and far beyond, straddling styles and genres.
For over two decades the Hungarian-born producer has been putting on huge shows featuring some of the most recognised musical superstars. The 2017 lineup will be made up of creative talent including Leslie Mandoki, Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band), Nick Van Eede (Cutting Crew), Tony Carey (Rainbow), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Randy Brecker, John Helliwell (Supertramp), Bill Evans (the sax ace), Udo Lindenberg, Bobby Kimball (Toto), Till Brönner, Szakcsi and more!
The Soulmates’ repertoire combines a mixture of their own music, a sophisticated and progressive rock sound combining elements of jazz, with classic, well-known hits from the bands of these original members and played together by all of them. Over the years this stellar aggregation have recorded more than five studio albums and have had their long history captured in a recent documentary film entitled “More Than 20 Years of Man Doki Soulmates”.
These very famous artists will come together in London as one band, on one stage, creating one unforgettable evening – a brew to savour and variety in-built as you will gather from the names! We may even get Udo’s legendary ‘Germans’..
