Highly acclaimed UK singer/songwriter, Nina Schofield, has been commissioned by Yamaha Music London to be the face and voice of this year’s national Learn To Play Day, releasing the self-penned anthem ‘Beat Another Rhythm’ in the UK on Friday 7th July 2017.

Learn To Play Day was created by the Music For All charity as a UK wide event, giving everyone across the nation a chance to have a free taster lesson on a musical instrument as a way of introducing the joy of music into their lives.  A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and music teacher with pop success across the world, Nina Schofield was an obvious choice to write and perform the 2017 anthem – a fresh pop face bringing music to the masses.

Nina Schofield will be personally hosting two live and free music workshops for kids at Yamaha Music London, Soho, during Learn To Play Day (23 & 24 June).  During the sessions, Nina will demonstrate the role of instruments in pop songs and children will be given the chance to record and appear in the live acoustic music video for ‘Beat Another Rhythm’.

‘Beat Another Rhythm’ is an upbeat pop track bursting with confidence and musical vibrancy.  Written by Nina Schofield specifically for Learn to Play Day, the song layers Nina’s divine vocals across tiers of drums, keyboards and strings, demonstrating how instrumentation on a song can change its shape and dimension. The track is a depiction of musical liberation, how music can help you break free from whatever ties you down, using the beat to help you find a new direction.

I’m delighted to have been chosen as the face and voice of Yamaha Music London’s Learn To Play Day activities,” comments Nina Schofield, “Music brings me joy every day and learning to play an instrument changed my life in so many positive ways. I want to share that with as many young people as possible during this Learn to Play weekend.”

Now the multi-talented performer joins forces with Yamaha Music London to lead music lovers through the wonderful experience of Learn To Play Day.  Join Nina on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June for a live workshop where you will experience how learning to play an instrument can change the entire shape of a song.  You may just be invited to record a live video with her too!

“When you meet Nina, it soon becomes apparent that she is truly driven by positivity and creativity but moreover, a sense of social responsibility which you could just describe as kindness. She is also a lot of fun. It doesn’t surprise me that she is amenable to lending her talents and personality to a great cause like this.”  – Pete Sargeant Just Listen To This
