A fiery live package indeed! As US and UK talent combines for a set of performances. Rock treasure!
Two of the most exciting prospects in the world of blues rock will tour together for the very first time throughout October 2019. Touring under the moniker of “ROADSTARS” – this hi-octane live extravaganza promises to be one of the hottest double bill concert tours to hit the UK in 2019.
The eight-date October 2019 UK Tour commences on Thursday 3rd October 2019 and finishes on Friday 11th October 2019 at O2 Academy 2 Islington, Islington, London, United Kingdom.
Tickets are priced at £14.00 each and are onsale now.
A full list of dates, venues and ticket links can be found below.
The tour includes American blues rock guitarist Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones, who Joe Bonamassa describes as “a kaleidoscope of blazing guitars and searing vocals,” plus Manchester rock band Gorilla Riot. Every night each band will alternative as headliners, giving them equal share of the limelight.
Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones are fronted by a 21-year-old powerhouse guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. The South Carolina-born, Nashville-based artist who formed the band as an eight-year-old, has developed a powerful and sublime synthesis of guitar skills and makes it clear that the future is hers for the taking. On her most recent, third self-titled album, Hannah Wicklund and the Steppin Stones, Hannah has performed over 2,000 shows including festival appearances. Here, she digs in deep, hits hard, and crushes it. Her latest albumis an aural kaleidoscope of blazing guitars and searing vocals, that establishes Wicklund as a triple-threat player, singer and writer in the same vein as Susan Tedeschi and the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde.
The album’s producer, Sadler Vaden, who’s also guitarist with Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, says, “Once we started writing some songs, I saw that she had a real, raw talent and had a love of classic rock music and blues. I wanted to honour that in making this album, but also add a little modern edge to it.”
On her latest self-titled album, Wicklund taps into the fury of loneliness (Ghost). She resurrects spectres of Hendrix and Joplin (Looking Glass) as well as power ballad intensity (Strawberry Moon). Then, just as she’s supercharged you with about as much raw energy as you can channel, she lets you down gently with the acoustic intimacy of Shadow Boxes, but even here, her singing achieves an intensity that most artists can only dream of matching. Her music stands on a bedrock of razor-edged, old-school rock ’n’ roll reanimated by a new generation’s urgency.
That impression is doubly emphasised in the video for the album’s first single, Bomb Through The Breeze. It’s a hurricane of swirling colour interspersed with spare shots of Wicklund and her band in action, with black bunnies and slithering snakes adding an eerie visual complement.
A special guest on Joe Bonamassa’s Keeping the Blues Alive At Sea Mediterranean Cruise in August, the Roadstars tour in October will be Hannah’s first major co-headline tour. The future’s looking bright for Hannah Wicklund And The Steppin Stones.
Gorilla Riot are a 5-piece dirty rock n’ roll blues machine from Manchester, England. They play raucous blues-based rock, combining elements of grunge, stoner and country to create a full-on high energy rock show.
Created by frontman, Arjun Bhishma, he’s surrounded himself with the best talent in Manchester, creating a 3-prong guitar attack with multi-part harmonies. Featuring Arjun on lead vocals and guitar, Liam Henry (guitars, vocals), Charly T. (guitars, vocals), and James “Deggy” Degnen (bass).
The band began song writing and soon entered the studio to record their debut self-titled album. This set them on their path to deliver their blues-drenched dirty sound that evolved into the acclaimed EP, Six Shots Down in 2017.
Equally at home acoustically or electrically they release their next studio work on 20th May 2018. American Honey Vol 1 sees the guys extend their sound and song-writing prowess with 3 new songs plus an exquisite re-working of their hit song, Last Hymn.
The band have supported UK tours for Massive and Dan Patlansky. In 2018 they played the Rising Stage at Ramblin’ Man Fair to critical acclaim. Their new single “Half Cut”, is out now and is taken from their forthcoming debut album set for release in the autumn.
