SpikeDrivers – The Blues Explained
Supplied By Artist
Anyone able to get across the Sheringham area on Sunday 19th March 2017 can enjoy not just blues performances but music workshops by key players from the SpikeDrivers, veteran players and singers of blues and roots music…
The band will demonstrate what it is that makes people want to get up and dance, jump and shout and sway side to side? No, not The PostCode Lottery but the infectious sound of The Blues. The Spikedrivers demonstrate many of the different rhythms found in Blues and they will explain what a shuffle, a two-step and a boogie-woogie sound like, and what makes the music swing. As the workshop develops, the band will encourage everyone to participate as much as possible from simply clapping along or playing various percussion items and train whistles, to singing and playing their own instruments (all levels will be welcome).
Most importantly the Spikedrivers will want everybody to get involved, be inspired and excited by The Blues in an appreciation of how to really listen and create music. The band is keen to point out that their workshops are not only for musicians at all levels but for music fans of all ages.
The evening concert will feature Fran McGillivray and Mike Burke. During the day the duo will give two free performances in ‘The Hub’ and as one of the top acts on the UK Blues scene and this special event looks set to be a sure-fire winner with hard core blues fans, and newcomers to this genre alike.
