Bach Re-Invented
Vibraphonist Anthony Kerr and Ronnie Scott’s Artistic Director James Pearson present a special performance inspired by Bach. Blending interpretation with improvisation, they explore works from preludes to larger forms, including a vibraphone arrangement of the Chaconne and a reimagined Double Violin Concerto movement. Part of the Monday Classical series Upstairs at Ronnie’s, the concert brings together classical tradition and jazz spontaneity.

Award-winning singer, guitarist and songwriter Marcus Bonfanti brings his Blues Review show to Ronnie Scott’s. Twice winner of the British Blues Award for Best Acoustic Performer and Best Songwriter as well as countless nominations, Marcus has released three critically acclaimed solo albums and has collaborated with Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, and Tom Jones. For this event, Marcus will be playing music that inspired the British Blues Revival of the 1960s, as well as everything after.

Buena Vista Live

Formed in 1996 by American guitarist Ry Cooder and Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos González, the original Buena Vista Social Club brought together Cuba’s finest veteran musicians to revive the island’s rich pre-revolutionary sounds. Their eponymous 1997 album became a global phenomenon, winning a Grammy and celebrating the timeless magic of Cuban music.

Heidi Vogel

Samba soul meets new London jazz in a show blending Heidi’s jazz material with originals and the sounds of Brazil. Vocalist with The Cinematic Orchestra since 2006, Heidi Vogel has opened for Erykah Badu, performed at Montreux Jazz festival for Quincy Jones and appeared live on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, as well as performing at The Royal Albert Hall and The Sydney Opera House. Heidi has racked up an impressive list of collaborations, adding her vocal talents to performances with the likes of Thundercat, Sheila Maurice Grey of Kokoroko, Mark Lewandowski’s tribute to Billie Holiday ‘A Bouquet (for Lady Day)’, Xhosa Cole, Soweto Kinch, and for Bruno Heinen’s quartet The W, among many others.
