Allegra Talks New Single, Future Plans And More

Heralded as one of the UK’s standout talents, London-based artist Allegra made a significant impact on the dance scene last year with her hit single ‘Love You Right Back,’ featuring DJ ALOK. Her latest single ‘Wildfire’ is out now and she sat down to chat to us:

When did you begin singing?

I’ve been singing ever since I can remember. I know that’s a boring answer but I remember being in kindergarten and loving whenever we had to put on a show for the parents. That’s when I knew I was in love.

What is your earliest musical memory?

I grew up playing the violin from a very young age. So my memories from the start are all very classical. Being in the school choir, doing my singing grades and doing musicals at school. At the same time I loved pop music. I would be driving to school listening to all the latest pop music on capital fm. At home I would also put on shows with my cousins and we would preform for our parents, basically forcing them.

You have your new single ‘Wildfire’ out now. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

The story behind this song is just love. With everything happening in the world right now, it’s a scary time, I just wanted to write a song saying it important to stick together. It’s about the spread of love and with love we can do anything.
I know it might sound cheesy but it’s true. We are all on the same planet, so why not help each other and boost one another.

Where did you record the single and who produced it?

I believe I recorded it at the Metropolitan or the Wendyhouse. I jump between those two. The producer was Tim Gosden

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

It’s so hard to pin point as I recorded this while creating my second EP. Originally I thought this was going on my EP list and not a single but here we are. The song just stood out so I had to release it as its own project.

Do you have plans to have a visualiser accompany the single?

I have already shot the music video for this single. It is very different from anything that I have ever created. We used AI to create it…. I’ve never done that before and it was such a learning curve which I loved. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

Was it a difficult song to write?

I mean not really. I just didn’t want it to sound like a love story, you know, boy meets girl kind of thing. I wanted to write it about coming together and spreading love to one another.

Which of your tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

A) Rain – this is just a fun track where I was feeling good about myself. If you watch the visualiser you can see I dance on a table.
B) Refund – asking for my money back after one of my relationships haha. I went into the studio saying where’s my receipt because I want my money back from that relationship.
C) Upgraded – reflecting on my most recent relationship. Learnt a lot of important lessons from that.

Do you have any further music releases planned for 2025?

Yes my second EP will be coming out this year which I’ve just finished and finalised. I can’t wait for you to hear.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

That people come out saying wow that energy in the room was magical. I want people to feel a part of something like they’ve just step into a world where they don’t have to worry about anything else.

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

I do think having live instruments are always important!!! It’s just magical.

How do you look after your voice?

Lots of tea and honey!!

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

Ooooo I would absolutely loved to of done something on the film series of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ something like that or ‘After’. I just love those kinds of films and where a song just fits perfect for the feel.
