AOR/Melodic rockers Streetlight are thrilled to announce the release of the deluxe edition of their latest studio album “Night Vision”, available digitally on 16th January, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl. Johannes Hager spoke to us about the new album and more:

Who is in Streetlight, how did you meet and what do you play?

We are all from Jönköping, Sweden, so we knew each other from before. We are Johannes Häger (lead vocals, guitars), Filip Stenlund (guitars, backing vocals), John Svensson (keys, backing vocals), Erik Nilsson (drums, backing vocals) and Johan Tjernström (bass, backing vocals)

What is your earliest musical memory?

I remember listening to my older brother’s vinyls, particularly a Manfred Mann’s Earth Band album, with an ear on the cover.

When did you begin songwriting?

When I was like 11, as soon as I learned my first two chords on the guitar.

You have your deluxe album edition of “Night Vision”, available digitally on 16th January 2026 via Frontiers Music Srl. How did you want to approach the making of the album?

This is actually a deluxe version of the album, with three bonus tracks. Night Vision was originally released in March 2025. The approach was pretty much the same as the with the debut album, Igintion, I made some demos of songs, everyone learned the tracks and we started recording from there.

Where did you record the album and who produced it?

We recorded in lead singer Johannes’ studio, and Johannes also mixed and produced the album.

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

When we recorded the solo guitars for the album, we took a break and went to see a concert with the bands Europe and Nestor. The solos were much faster when we returned to the studio.

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones, recording equipment to help you get a particular sound/tone for the record?

We used both great analog and digital gear, the guitars were recorded with a Fractal Audio pedal, and the synths with loads of plugins.

Which of your new album tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

 a. long-distance runner b. straight to video c. learn to love again

Was it a difficult album to write?

Not really, AOR/melodic rock is such a fun and inspiring style of music to write for.

Who designed the album artwork?

Markus Wreland in his studio in Vancouver, Canada.

Does the album’s title have any significance/special meaning?

When in darkness your eyes slowly adapt to the dark and learn to see better, we get night vision. But a ray of light can light up any darkness.

One of your tracks is the new single ‘Leanne (Live)’. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

The original version, Leanna, is part of the Night Vision album. The inspiration was an interview we did with an English magazine, where they spelled lead singer Johannes’ wife Lina ”Leanna”. We thought that would be a good title for an AOR track.

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

Jönköping, Sweden. Windy, lakeside, hilly, friendly, creative.

How do you look after your voices?

A lot of preparing, drinking water, vocal warm-ups.

Do you have any live dates planned in the UK/Europe in 2025/2026?

Yes, a couple of shows in Sweden and some abroad as well.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

A smile on their faces and a good feeling inside.

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

We use Fractal Audio, synth plugins, Tama, Larrivee and PRS guitars, Fender basses etc.

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

An adventurous children’s book would be fun, where everything is possible musically.

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

For me personally, Kansas, Toto, Journey and Def Leppard, are all big influences when it comes to the music of Streetlight.

What makes Streetlight happy and what makes you unhappy?

People liking our music. A poor sound on stage.
