Tyler Bryant Releases Third Solo Single & Video: “Mama Like To Rock”
Tyler Bryant releases his third solo single, “Mama Like To Rock,” accompanied by an official music video. The track, written by Bryant and his wife, GRAMMY Award-winner Rebecca Lovell of Larkin Poe, continues to showcase the artist’s evolving Americana-inspired sound.
Following years of fronting the acclaimed rock band Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, Bryant has been carving out a new path as a solo artist. His first solo release, “Falling Up,” served as an “ice breaker,” bridging the gap between his work with The Shakedown and the more introspective tone of his solo material. The track earned Classic Rock Magazine’s “Track of the Week” and landed on their Hot List.
His follow-up single, “Planted,” took a more stripped-down and vulnerable approach, marking a turning point in Bryant’s creative journey. “I told myself it was time to be has honest as possible and share the real stuff,” Bryant says. “For years, I’ve written songs to process life and kept them tucked away, it’s scary to be vulnerable. But I’ve reached a point where sharing that side feels necessary.”
Now, with “Mama Like To Rock,” Bryant returns with a joyful, roots-driven song inspired by family, legacy, and love.
“‘Mama Like To Rock’ came to be on a sunny Tennessee morning in late September,” Bryant shares. “I’ve got a brand-new son named Jesse and I love sittin’ out on the porch with him and his mama. I started singing little tunes to make them smile, and this song just stuck. My family inherited a beautiful old nylon string guitar from Rebecca’s grandfather. We have a picture of him playing it. It’s really the only guitar we keep in our house and has become our main songwriting tool. Her grandfather didn’t play much, but that guitar is still a piece of his legacy, because we think about him when play it. It isn’t lost on me that his guitar was instrumental in the birth of this song.
The song was recorded at Bryant’s new recording studio Crosstie Recordings in Nashville, TN, featuring an impressive lineup of musicians: Scott Mulvahill – Upright Bass, Chris Powell – Drums & Percussion, Simon Maartensson – Keys, Tyler Bryant – Guitar & Vocals and Rebecca Lovell – Vocals
Bryant also reflected on the deeper meaning behind the track:
“Becoming a father has made me think a lot about what gets passed down, such as traditions, behaviors, and songs. These tunes, no matter how successful or not, are part of what I’ll leave behind. I’m grateful for that. All the waves that influenced us, influence the next wave and the waves just keep rollin’… Don’t get me wrong, I have no designs on pushing my son to pursue music… However, there is absolutely no denying that his mama does in fact like to rock and his daddy does too! I hope he listens to this tune when he’s older and feels special that he was already inspiring me from such a young age. This song is a celebration of my wife, my son, and the life we’re building together.”
With “Mama Like To Rock,” two-time GRAMMY Award-winning producer, Bryant continues to expand his creative horizons making music that feels honest, unfiltered, and entirely on his own terms.
