THERA has already emerged as one of the Czech Republic’s most exciting new voices. She’s amassed 8M+ streams, earned recognition as both the EQUAL CZ&SK Ambassador and the first‑ever Czech EQUAL Global Ambassador, and continues to break international ground for Czech artists. We spoke to her about her latest single and more:

What is your earliest musical memory?

My earliest musical memories are linked to my mother playing the piano, and baby me dancing around her and singing along. It was where I fell in love with music. Just the pure joy that one could have from music.

When did you begin songwriting?

I began writing music during the pandemic. Or at least, that’s the point from when I believe you can call it songwriting. I had a lot of time on my hands, and began recording a lot of covers that I also released. One evening, I thought about actually making my own song, about feelings and emotions I was going through. That’s actually when I wrote my song ‘rain’, that later made it on my first album.

You have released your latest single ‘do you see?’. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

I wrote ‘do you see?’ about the feeling of wanting to be seen. Sometimes we all go through things that one cannot explain, or feel like something is wrong with us, however, we don’t know how to tell someone about it. The lyric ‘do you see?’ comes from almost a “why aren’t you seeing that something is wrong with me” “why can’t you help me?”. It’s about an individual who is trapped in their own thoughts and darkness, and just wants a way out.

Where did you record the track and who produced it?

I recorded the track in my little home studio with my producer Matěj Morávek, who is also my guitarist/bassist for live gigs. We just have a little space

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

I actually do, quite a lot ironically. We started recovering the song last October, but it went through a lot of demos vocally, as I felt it wasn’t complete. There are a bunch of funny videos from those sessions, where Matej and I listen back to a recording and you can tell on our faces what we were thinking. I love working with him as our sessions are filled with just laughter and having fun. However, I’d say the most memorable was our final recording sessions. We finally had finished up the vocals, and both were so proud of the song. It’s vocally my best, and currently our favorite track.

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones, recording equipment to help you get a particular sound/tone for the record?

I think, with any song, it’s a lot of trying varied things to figure out what sounds right. So definitely. However, the most important part of the process for this track was being able to play it live so many times before releasing it. Because it got so engraved in my head before we finished the song up, it was almost easy to make it even better than it was before.

Which of your tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

happiest: guardian angel

angriest: would you? or DLTTI

most reflective: rewind

Who were the musicians who were on the song with you?

On all of the songs I worked with my Matěj. He’s quite a big key to my sound and my music.

Was it a difficult song to write? – do you see?

Not really. I got the idea for it quite randomly, and the words kind of just flowed. Sometimes with some of my music it is very easy to put together, when I know exactly what I want to write or say. As I said previously though, the most difficult part of the song was making sure the vocals were exactly how I wanted them.

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

My hometown is Prague in the Czech Republic. I would describe it as: historical, gothic, cobblestoned, calm, and safe.

How do you look after your voice?

I have started getting in the habit of really working on this, because it’s very important. Actually I have little vocal warm ups that I do every morning after waking up. It sounds silly, but especially when getting ready for massive tours, it’s important I don’t strain or lose my voice. In general, I just make sure to not scream or yell too much. And before tours, I train a lot with singing while running to build up the stamina of my voice.

Do you have any live dates planned in the UK/Europe in 2026?

Currently, none are released to the public. However, after I graduate high school my plan is to just write music and tour, so I can share it with my fans.

You toured the UK and Europe as special guest to Jason Derulo. How did that opportunity arise and what are your memories of the tour?

Honestly, I am not the best at answering this question, since I still don’t fully understand how it all happened.. However, the process started a long time ago, last May to be exact. I pitched for the tour through my live agent Julian (Commercial Entertainments), and we hadn’t heard back for a very long time. After completing the tour with Remember Monday last October/November, I believe they (JD’s Live Team) had heard some of the performances and seen some clips, and they reached out. There were a lot of back and forth discussions, but I don’t know many details about them because my management didn’t want to put my hopes up. But suddenly, a week after the RM tour I got a call that I got the tour. It was all honestly surreal, but I am so grateful that it happened. The tour was nothing but amazing. We had so much in terms of the live performance as well as watching Jason’s show and just travelling with our team. Jason and the whole team were all sweethearts, and it is genuinely a tour that I will never forget.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

My goal for this tour was to create a setlist that has both sides of my music, the fun and electric with the sad. Therefore, my hopes are that the fans mainly have fun for the 30 minutes that I am there, and that they maybe found new music to fall in love with. Overall, the performances are for the people, so I hope they enjoy it.

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

I recently bought my full black wireless microphone that I have with me on stage. I’d say it’s just a comfort having the same microphone every night.

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

Ooo that’s a good question. I’m not sure if I have a specific novel off the top of my head. But I would have loved to make a song to either “Vampire Diaries” or “How to Get Away With Murder”. I know it sounds crazy, but those are my favorite shows currently.

Do you have a video to accompany the single?

I do not have a video accompanying ‘do you see?’

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

I have always been inspired by Madison Beer, especially in her songwriting. There’s something about her lyrics that I find very therapeutic and also just fun to listen to. Then of course Tate McRae when it comes to stage presence, and the way she hooks in the audience. And Ariana Grande always, I don’t think I have to explain that too much. (laughs)

Do you have any new music releases planned for this year?

100%. However, I can’t spoil that just yet.

What makes THERA happy and what makes you unhappy?

I would say what makes THERA happy is being on stage and sharing music with the audience, as well as her angels, and what doesn’t make her happy is being away from them.
