 Emerging South Coast UK trio i-ATLAS announce their dynamic debut EP, Beyond The New Horizon, set for release on
Friday 11th September, alongside the release of their striking new single and video, 3iAtlas, which is out now.

Answered by Ian Brewster (singer/guitarist) – 

Who is in i-Atlas, how did you meet and what do you play?

Ondy (bass/guitar/effects/programming). Marcus (drums/programming/engineering) and Dougy (vocals/guitar/keyboards). Marcus and I replied to an ad by Ondy. We were the first people Ondy auditioned, and after our first rehearsal/audition together we had two songs complete. It just gelled instantly.

What is your earliest musical memory?

Music lessons flicking rabbit s*** around the classroom

When did you begin songwriting?

15 years old for a band called Ankh

You have your debut EP ‘Beyond The New Horizon’ released on Friday 11th September 2026. How did you want to approach the making of the EP?

We wanted a top-class rock producer but couldn’t afford the fat wad so we did it ourselves without remortgaging

Where did you record the EP and who produced it?

A collaboration of the band’s efforts produced by Marcus at his country residence somewhere in West Sussex, near Cowdray Park.

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

Bringing Guinness cans into the studio after they had been rolling around the back seat of the car and having one explode whilst listening to the master track of Rather Me Than You. 

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones, recording equipment to help you get a particular sound/tone for the record?

HX Stomp XL, B2 Pro Behringer condenser, for guitars and vocals and some awesome microphone setup for drums. No amps were used for bass, just the built-in amp simulators on Ondy’s HX Stomps. He splits his bass to make an awesome guitar sound. Marcus won’t reveal his secret to anyone. A bow harp for one track. 

Which of your new EP tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

Touch the Sky has some heartfelt messages, much to the despair we hear each day and ignore to maintain bliss and insanity.  

Was it a difficult EP to write?

The EP was an absolute delight to write, all bouncing ideas off each other towards the best structure, composition and individualisation of each song. The hard part was in the studio and getting a balanced mix whilst maxing out the coherent bass.  

Who designed the EP artwork?

Ondy and I, who created the theme, using old motorcycle helmets, alien and skull masks from an obscure website. Horns from China, hot glue, screws, climbing ropes and a friendly photographer from Fontwell (thanks Andy). 

One of the tracks is the single ‘3iAtlas’ out now. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

The song was inspired by the third and most interesting interstellar object, 3iAtlas, to recently enter our solar system. There was a great deal of hype surrounding this object as it passed by, from alien spacecraft to remote viewers who had contacted space beings; the purpose was to help save our planet Earth. 

The single is accompanied by an official music video. What was the thought process behind it and who directed it?

Based upon the concept that aliens from the comet/spacecraft were here to help the planet, manifesting themselves into human form. The video is supposed to show the transition back into alien beings as they hurtle back into space leaving behind very good news. The video was directed by Nick of Shark Sauce Films.

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

Portsmouth: Historic, Influential, Island, Naval, Heritage

 How do you look after your voice?

Do not smoke or drink beforehand. Breathing exercises, Swimming helps to enhance lung capacity for those long notes. 

Do you have any live dates planned in the UK/Europe in 2026?

Our time on Earth has been brief. To date our efforts have been concentrated upon music creativity, song production and video promotions; towards bearing good fruit for opportunities in 2027  

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

A heightened sense of self and to know people think we are human and just like them. 

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

Fender with bridge mini humbucker. Ondy has custom Ibanez BTB 5 string, which has LEDs, that lights up the dots, which can be seen in the video

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

The Dumas Club, by Arturo Perez-Reverte 

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

Robert Plant, Jeff Beck, early Duran Duran, Ziggy Stardust, The Stranglers, Gary Numan;  to name just a few 

What makes i-Atlas happy and what makes you unhappy?

Happy: Playing to an appreciative audience, completing a project in good time such as new songs in the studio and videos. 

Unhappy: Lack of communication and feeling undervalued. Being led by those who should know better but are steered by other forces placing this world further into desperation and state of doom.
