Band Members :

Baz Roze: Guitarist
Steve Rankin: Bass
Vic Finch: Drums
When and how did you all meet?
We’ve all been friends in the local music scene for years until deciding to form Black Roze in 2017.
Your album ‘Penny For Your Sins’ is out now and was released last year. How did you want to approach the making of the album and who produced it?
We wanted a producer that understood the sound we were going for as our music is very eclectic and we found Dan Lucas at “Joplin House” was the perfect match.
Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?
Viixen uses a wireless Sm58 with a “voiceplay” live pedal for delay & reverb she can control.
Baz has changed from Marshall Valve Amp heads recently to a Blackstar Ampped 1 digital amp with simulated valves & a Valeton Gp200 Modeller thro a Marshall 4 x 12 cab whilst using Jackson Guitars.
Steve Uses Fender & Rickenbacker bass guitars & Vic uses Zildjian cymbals
Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?
Margate. Once great but upcoming again.
Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the album recording sessions?
One incident was when our Lead Singer Viixen was recording our song “Wake Up” & it has some screamo type vocals in it which she had never done before. Our producer Dan thought she had been possessed by the devil as he had never heard her sing like that before. He turned down the mixing desk & we heard this devil like sound from the booth. It sounded awesome but a little unsettling. It was hilarious when she came out & said “How did I do?”
Do you have any plans for live shows in Europe/UK in 2024?
This year has gone crazy.
We’ve already played a few Festivals, headlining Heaven & Hellfest in Rotherham & a few London shows. At the time of writing, we got through to the semi finals to play at Bloodstock which were held in May. We had an awesome support slot with “Motorheads guitarist “Phil Campbell & the Bastard sons”. We are playing Margate Rocks Festival in October, the massive Maid of Stone Festival in Maidstone alongside Wolfmother & Mr Big, SOS” Festival In Manchester & HRH Sleaze in Sheffield O2 Academy in September.
How do you look after your voices?
Viixen is very good with her voice. Lots of warming up on gig days & swig of Jager for lubrication ha ha.
Which tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?
A, happiest would be our brand new single to be released soon as it’s a proper party punky type song called “Afterparty”
B, Angriest is “Wake up” . A song about main stream media poisoning our minds.
C, Most reflective is “Footprints in the sand”. Basically a song about loosing your loved ones.
Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?
We are Influenced by bands such as “Halestorm” “In this Moment” “Marilyn Manson” & “Iron Maiden”. New bands we like are Starbenders & “South of Salem”
Do you have any further music releases planned for 2024?
Our new single “Afterparty” will be out this year. We are just doing the final mixes now. It depends if we decide to do a music video to it, which will be fairly likely.
What makes Black Roze happy and what makes you unhappy?
Nothing better than playing a gig and have people see us for the first time & become Fans for life.
We always go with a positive outlook so there not a lot we get unhappy about apart from traffic fines when we unload at venues in London ha ha.
