Brighton pop-punk five-piece Look What Happened release their new EP, Weak Minds For The Weekend, on Friday 30th October 2026.

Who is in Look What Happened, how did you meet and what do you play?

Ryan, Josh & Jay (Guitarist, bassist & vocalist) met through college.

Billy (guitarist) was neighbours with Ryan.

Jack (drums) was found through an AD we put out for drummer

Now we are family.

We play a blend of heavy pop-punk & melodic emo

What is your earliest musical memory?

Billy: I’ve always loved music. I used to listen to tapes in the car on the way home from school and then try to play the riffs when I got home, or skive off sick and sit on Guitar Pro the rest of the afternoon.

Jay:  East 17 – Stay Another Day, number 1 on XMAS – Me & my brother then performing it for our parents with TV remotes as mics

Josh: Listening to the likes of Wet Wet Wet, Boyz II Men and Lighthouse Family on Sunday drives with my family

Ryan: My parents always had Southern FM on in the kitchen when I was growing up. There was always music being played in my house.

Jack: Listening to Teenage Kicks by the undertones on cassette and just rewinding it back to the beginning and not listening to any other tracks.

When did you begin songwriting?

Billy: As soon as I picked up a guitar really. I would just sit and try and get the tunes out of my head and into something tangible. Even before I could really play properly I’d be trying.

Jay: I started writing poetry at 16, then shoehorned them into songs with my first band.

Ryan: I first started song writing in multiple short lived bands  in secondary school.

You have your EP ‘Weak Minds For The Weekend’ released on 30th October 2026.  How did you want to approach the making of the EP?

The songs were written separately and it only became clear that the story/themes were linear when sequencing the track order.

Thematically the EP follows a journey from start to finish, but the destructive loop continues.

The name came after, referencing the final line on the EP.

Where did you record the EP and who produced it?

We went to a studio in Whitstable to record with our guy, Ian Sadler. Absolute beast and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

We got more feral and unstable as the week went on. The banter was rather unhinged by the end of the recording.

Luckily Ian, our producer, has worked with us before so probably mentally prepared himself.

Ian, Sorry mate haha x

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones, recording equipment to help you get a particular sound/tone for the record?

Billy: I’ve always been a Les Paul guy so for this we used Ian’s Les Paul ‘Godess’, which is a lighter thinner model with tuning locks and it sounded beefy as f***. Ian knows his stuff when it comes to getting the tone as well so we were in good hands

Which of your new EP tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

Happiest = masochist

angriest = goldstone

reflective = make it real

Was it a difficult EP to write?

I think we all work well together so not really, we are often writing and we have a lot more tracks to come, it was more about picking which ones to use for the EP.

Add in Ian, who gets our sound and can push us creatively in the studio. It came out pretty well. We did 5 tracks in 5 days though so it was pretty intense.

Who designed the EP artwork?

It was a collaboration between Ryan and Jay. We like to have creative control of any artwork. The single cover was Billy.

One of the tracks is the single ‘Make It Real’. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

This song explores the bleak cycle of self doubt, accountability, unfulfilled goals and the harmful coping mechanisms that cloud our reality.

Balancing melancholic lyrics with high energy melodies.

Do you have any visualisers to accompany the EP?

We have a music video accompanying Make It Real when it releases on the 23rd!

Filmed with Shark Sauce Films during the summer. We had such a laugh making this.

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

Brighton is where the band are from/based.

Creative, bespoke, energetic, open-minded, expensive

How do you look after your voices?

Jay: Liquorice tea, Vocals zones, Exercises and In Ear Monitors

Billy: I’ve been having lessons the last year with a vocal coach; Candi Underwood from the band ‘fakeyourdeath’, she’s very knowledgeable and has given me a lot of techniques and warm ups to improve and protect my voice.

Josh: Literally nothing. Almost certainly a terrible idea

Do you have any live dates planned in the UK/Europe in 2026/2027?

We have a few shows lined up; our sold out EP launch party on the 6th November with special guests Making Friends and Down In Motion (Hove), Brolly Brewery (Horsham) on the 27th supporting Cousins and a daytime gig showcase on December 6th at Daltons (Brighton).

We are still trying to book out the rest of the year and into the new year, So if you want to book us, drop us a line!

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

Billy: That we’ve put on the best show we could have possibly done and that everyone’s had a good time

Josh: Not have forgotten my parts and not have sweated through whatever I’m wearing. I tend to fail at both

Jay: Give 100% and have memorable moments

Ryan: To play as well as I can and make new fans.

Jack: Remembered all my gear and remembered all my gear!!!

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

Billy: Me and Ryan use the same drive pedal at the moment (a Boss OD-200 Hybrid Drive Pedal), my set up is pretty simple at the moment. I have my Epiphone Les Paul I use on stage at the moment which looks pretty cool in photos and I use an upturned skateboard as a pedal board.

Jay: In-ear monitors have been a game changer honestly. Being able to hear yourself prevents blow outs and more control.

Un-protected ears at gigs throughout the years have definitely caught up, so these are essential.

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

Billy: Tough one, I’ve just finished all of the Witcher books, which were amazing. I’d love to do something like that but I’m not sure we’d suit that style though. Maybe something more modern like, ‘The Frost Files’ by Jackson Ford.. They’re modern thriller/ comic vibes. I think our music would suit something like that amazingly if it were ever adapted into a film

Josh: The ‘His Dark Materials’ series were some of the first fantasy novels that I read as a kid and they really kickstarted my love of that genre, so it would be nice to have a hand in the development of something within that realm

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

Jay – New Found Glory, InMe, The Story So Far, Lauryn Hill, The Streets

Billy: Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, WSTR, Stand Atlantic, President,

Josh: Blink-182, Neck Deep, Paramore, A Day To Remember, Dayseeker, Lights

Ryan: Blink 182, New Found Glory, Neck Deep, A Day To Remember, Four Year Strong.

Jack: Billy Talent, Green Day, Rise Against, Slipknot, Paramore, Alexisonfire

Recommendations: Making Friends, Archers Killing Archers, Down in Motion, Cider Dogs, Delta Signal, Luvd, Hissy & The Fits, The Glitterbombs, Henry, Better Than The Book, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better Mum & Dad Talk To Animals.

What makes Look What Happened happy and what makes you unhappy?

Playing, rehearsing, recording and hanging together. We are brothers and we ride or die!

Nothing makes us unhappy, we are too chill for drama 👌
