UK rock crew NIGHTBLADE continue their rapid-fire ascent with the release of a new video for their explosive track, Never Trust Another, taken from their critically acclaimed album, ‘5’. We chatted to the band about the video and more:

Who is in Nightblade, what do they play and how did you meet?

Nightblade are a creative alternative rock band.

We met at the gym which I run.

When did you begin singing/songwriting?

I began songwriting at 13, I even remember the first song I wrote called Lost In Hell…I also remember I don’t think it was up to much.

What is your earliest musical memory?

Listening to my mother and father belting out Neil Diamond at home.

You have your new single ‘Never Trust Another’ out now. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

I’m trying to write relatable and generic lyrics currently that people can latch hold of.
I’m sure most people have met someone that they don’t trust, but you keep finding out by accident.

Where did you record the single and who produced it?

It was recorded at the Old Smithy recording studio in Worcester…the likes of Black Sabbath and Judas Priest have recorded there.

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

When we recorded our second album, we had practically finished when we had a Huge bang come from the mixing desk, to add to it there was thunder and lightning outside… Pretty spooky  to say the least.

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones, recording equipment to help you get a particular sound/tone for the record?

For this particular track the guitars were played remotely and then sent through to the studio via today’s technology.

Was it a difficult song to write?

The song was probably formulated in my memory bank so it flowed out with relative ease.

Which of your tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

A..Speak as you find definitely puts my in a happy frame of mind
B.Never Trust Another brings back angry memories
c. Heard it all before is very nostalgic and reflective for me

The single is accompanied by an official music video. What was the thought process behind the video and who directed it?

The video was meant to look like a rehearsal hence me reading of the lyric sheet.
We used a rehearsal studio in town to get the effect, it a very well dressed rehearsal room and looks the part.

Do you have any further music releases planned for 2025?

Yes we have another single definitely and probably a fifth too.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

Engaged with the audience and left a marked impression.

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

I have my favourite Shure Mic and a turbo fan for hot stages.

How do you look after your voices?

Plenty of rest, no booze and specific warming up exercises prior to singing and of course singing technically correct.

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

Probably something like Star Wars or Star Trek which were both a childhood favourite..
Writing the new James Bond tune would be cool as it’s such an iconic thing to do

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

Kidderminster…an old carpet town.

Do you have any live dates in the UK/Europe planned for 2025/2026?

We have more dates at HMV to release, music venues and Town Halls also on the cards.

What makes Nightblade happy and what makes you unhappy?

Creating new music

Social media is the thorn in my side, however I do realise the importance of it
