UK rock band STONE BROKEN have been building a loyal fanbase for years and have a new single ‘Remedy’ being released on Friday 19th July 2024 as well as some live dates. We managed to have a chat with the band about the single, favourite instruments and more:
Stone Broken are a 4-piece rock band from Walsall, West Midlands, UK. Rich (Vocals/Guitar), Kieron (Bass), Chris (Guitar), Robyn (Drums), we formed in 2013 after Rich and Robyn we’re looking for a bass player and then found Kieron, Kieron knew Chris from a previous musical project and the rest is history.
What is your earliest musical memory?
We all share a similar childhood memories when it comes to music, all our parents would play music around the house and we all naturally progressed into playing an instrument, Robyn started playing Tuba in primary school and then moved on to different instruments throughout school then eventually settling on the drums at the age of 13, Kie started playing bass at the age of 13, Chris’s earliest musically memory is playing recorder in school but then moving on to playing guitar a few years later around the age of 14 and Rich’s earliest musical memory is him playing the glockenspiel at about the age of 6 for a school performance and then naturally progressed onto other instruments throughout school and now mainly plays guitar.
Your new single ‘Remedy’ is released on 19th July 2024. What is the story/inspiration behind the track?
All 4 of us walked into the studio to start recording Remedy, we all wanted to release some raw emotions that we all were going through, this song represents struggles we all go through from time to time and how it affects you on a daily basis with mental health at the forefront.
Where did you record the single and who produced it?
We recorded the single with Dan Weller who produced our last album ‘Revelation’ we recorded in two studios; we started off recording in Dan’s London studio and then moved to Marshall Studios in Milton Keynes to finish recording the song.
What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?
We always try and put on the best show we can for our fans, we hope to connect with our fans through the music and for us all to live in the moment right there and then.
Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?
Robyn loves her Natal drum kit, we use Kempers which has helped us massively not only on stage but using them has helped with travelling across the world, Kieron loves using his dark glass pedal and the tone he’s able to get out of it whilst pairing with his Spector bass, Rich uses LTD guitars with an evertune bridge which keeps everything 100% in tune for the whole show.
Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?
We come from a town called Walsall in the West Midlands, we would describe it as a little rough around the edges, but it’s where we like to call home.
How do you look after your voices?
On tour Rich will avoid dairy, caffeine, alcohol and will do vocal warmups before and after a show, the rest of the band will also do vocal warmups and exercises, whilst trying to get enough rest and staying hydrated whilst on the road.
You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?
Kieron is a huge Lord of The Rings fan, so we would have to go with LOTR.
Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?
Most of us listen to all genres of music, which range from Metal to Pop and everything in between, some of our early influences are Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Alter Bridge, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, currently we’re listening to Spirit Box, Architects, Smash into pieces, Hardy which we can all recommend.
Do you have any further music releases planned for 2024?
We’re hoping to get back into the studio again this year, so watch this space!
Do you have any live dates planned in the UK/Europe in 2024?

What makes STONE BROKEN happy and what makes you unhappy?
Stone Broken are the happiest when they are playing shows and connecting with the fans, we’re also big animal lovers and we love to laugh!
What makes us unhappy is when we can’t find a good cup of tea whilst touring.
