Toast – the USA’s No.1 tribute band to the magical Seventies hit sounds of Bread – have today announced they will visit our shores to play their first ever UK & Ireland tour in autumn 2026. Dedicated to keeping the timeless sound and spirit of Bread alive, Toast recreates those unforgettable lush harmonies and smooth stylings with incredible accuracy and warmth. Toast keyboardist/percussionist/vocalist Troy Jolley kindly spoke to JLTT:
Who is in Toast, how did you meet and what do you play?
Toast is the top touring tribute to Bread in the world, based in Utah in the USA.

We have played in various bands together over the last forty years, but just got together as Toast nine years ago when Jeff Clark was asked to perform a single Bread tribute show at a summer concert series in Utah. He invited some of his musician friends and the rest, as the say, is history!
You will be embarking on your debut UK and Ireland tour in September 2026. How are you feeling about the dates and do you have any sightseeing plans whilst you are there?
We are very excited as we have not been to the UK or Ireland before, but we have had many requests from Bread fans there over the last several years. We plan to take an extra week after our shows to sightsee.
Given the extensive back catalogue of Bread, is it difficult picking a setlist? Do you have a specific song selection process?
It’s really not difficult as Bread had 13 or 14 top songs that everyone wants to hear in a concert and then we supplement with some of our own favourites plus lesser-known (but still recognizable) songs from the ‘Sound of Bread’ and ‘Anthology of Bread’ albums. Jeff Clark, has been a big Bread fan since high school and does a great job selecting songs most will remember and be able to sing along with.
Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?
We are based out of the greater Salt Lake City, Utah area in the USA.
5 words: Mountains beside an ancient lake.
How do you look after your voices?
We try to use healthy nutrition and supplements, which is sometimes hard on the road. Also use all the singer recommended “tricks” out there, like chewing on ginger root and pineapple juice or singer’s throat spray, as needed. And, of course just keeping our voices warmed up and ready to go with various vocal exercises.
What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?
We always strive to bring joy and light to our audiences and make new friends.
Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?
We strive to replicate the sound of Bread in any way we can while keeping our set-up fairly simple. We have our preferred instruments of course, but really it’s about recreating the music as our audiences remember it and any equipment we use is selected to that end.
Do any of the band members have any other musical releases or projects in the pipeline that you would like to mention?
Jeff Clark, our frontman, recently wrote a song inspired by David Gates of Bread entitled “Sing Us Your Stories”. He also wrote one in memory of James Griffin of Bread called “A Little Longer”. The band recently recorded and released the two singles on CD and vinyl, with both formats available on our website breadtribute.com
What makes Toast happy and what makes you unhappy?
We absolutely love performing the music of Bread for new audiences, night after night. It’s so fun to see the joy in their faces as yet another song is presented that brings a flood of memories with it. We love meeting fellow “Bread Heads” who love the music as much as we do and making some lifelong friends along the way. And it brings us a lot of happiness and satisfaction to visit places like the UK and Ireland along the road. It truly is an amazing world filled with so many good people and places and it’s a joy to experience that first-hand when much of what we hear out there seems to indicate otherwise.
