Country singer-songwriter Todd Barrow has released his new single ‘Road Warrior (street machine)’ and had a quick chat with us:

When did you begin singing/songwriting?

I began at a very young age entering talent shows and playing at county fairs. Songwriting came later in college.

What is your earliest musical memory?

At the age of five performing Elvis at the school. “Hound Dog” was a hit!

You have your new single ‘Road Warrior (Street Machine) which is out now. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

Music is a great way to tell a story. After some collaboration with Sammy Hagar and Eric Clapton. The song came to life.

Was it a difficult song to write?

Process was very different from my other songs. I went straight to rock n roll. Couple of revisions and the song was developed.

Do you have a visualiser to accompany the single?

No visualizer yet. Song illustrates itself.

Where did you record the single and who produced it?

Recorded here in Texas at SG studio. Produced with Greg White and the guys!

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

During a session one of the Voice winners stopped by to join the recording which was spectacular.

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones, recording equipment to help you get a particular sound/tone for the record?

The sound of Gibson guitars through a Marshall amp. Mostly used Shure microphones and a Pearl Drum kit.

Which of your tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

Happiest would be “Rockin In The City. Most reflective on “Ain’t Lookin Back Now.” More aggressive on “Road Warrior.”

Do you have any further music releases planned for 2025?

New material coming out later this year aimed at the country genre.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

Connect with the audience. Sharing my life experiences with everyone. Rocked the place with my music.

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

I love my special made acoustic guitar. No effects needed for the rich sound it brings. Special effects with my electric guitar for a blue rock sound.

How do you look after your voice?

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Vocal warm up before each performance.

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

Hank the Cowdog. Life on the ranch through a dog’s perspective.

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

Dallas is my hometown. Famous for the Dallas TV series. Who shot JR?

Do you have any live dates in the UK/Europe planned for 2025/2026?

Working on some dates for Europe. I have tons of fans in the UK.

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

List is long and wide. I’ve been influenced by Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Johnny Cash and the Eagles.

What makes Todd Barrow happy and what makes you unhappy?

Making music makes me happy. Giving back to charities. Seeing others hurt or sad makes me unhappy.
