Corey Kent Strips It Back With Soul-Stirring Single ‘Wannabe’
Multi-platinum, Sony Music Nashville recording artist Corey Kent returns with his latest release, “Wannabe,” a stripped-down, deeply personal track that signals the sonic direction of his next chapter.

“‘Wannabe’ was the first song we wrote for the new record, and as soon as we finished it, we knew it represented the sound we were chasing for this project,” shared Kent. “It’s simple on purpose, and that’s what I love about it. It’s a song about how the little things and everyday moments in life mean more than fame and fortune ever could.”
Serene and pared down to what matters most, “Wannabe” is all about discovering who you really want to be. Further described by Kent as a “cowboy campfire ballad,” homespun acoustic guitar, ethereal steel, and haunting fiddle frame an aspirational anthem with a back-to-basics target. It’s not fame or fortune driving Kent but simple-life fulfillment.
The new track follows Kent’s latest release “Empty Words,” which was fast-tracked due to overwhelming fan demand after generating more than 20 million views across social media. In just 13 weeks he also sits in the top 20-and-climbing at Country radio with “Rocky Mountain Low” featuring Koe Wetzel. The new releases have propelled him to 11 million streams a week as “Wannabe” offers fans another glimpse into his evolving sound for his forthcoming new project.
Surpassing 1 billion career streams earlier this year, Kent continues to build momentum as one of country music’s most compelling rising voices. His second No. 1 single “This Heart” was certified GOLD by the RIAA, while his hard-driving hit “Something’s Gonna Kill Me” was recently certified PLATINUM. Both join Kent’s TRIPLE-PLATINUM No. 1 breakout “Wild As Her.”
Looking ahead, Kent will return to Stagecoach in Indio, California on April 25 and in May, he’ll be back overseas for the Highways Festival in London, U.K. followed by a handful of headline dates in Germany and The Netherlands.
Rolling Stone noted the Oklahoma native has given “the region’s signature sound a shot of mainstream sensibility” becoming one of the genre’s most exciting voices and earning accolades from CMT and the Opry Next Stage program while touring alongside Morgan Wallen, Jon Pardi, Jason Aldean, Koe Wetzel and Parker McCollum.
