Curb Records to reissue Sparks’ classic 1986 album, Music That You Can Dance To, this Autumn

Curb Records is set to reissue American pop duo Sparks’ classic 1986 album, Music That You Can Dance To on October 30. In celebration of the album’s 40^th anniversary, Music That You Can Dance To will be reissued in expanded and remastered form in CD, vinyl, and digital formats. 

Music That You Can Dance To was the duo’s most synth-pop leaning album after their critically acclaimed 1979 album, Nº 1 in Heaven, and featured songs both written and produced by the Mael brothers, including ‘Armies Of The Night’, written for and featured in the cult horror film Fright Night, the electronic driven ‘Change’, the double A-side cover of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Fingertips’, high energy ‘The Scene’, and the title track, which was featured in the 1986 cult classic BMX bike racing film, Rad.

Remastered by longtime Sparks mastering engineer Bill Inglot, Music That You Can Dance To (40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) includes the album’s original tracks plus 17 remixes, previously unreleased demos and alternate takes. Among the bonus tracks are ‘How To Survive’ and an acoustic version of the band’s 1974 single ‘This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of Us’.

Sparks continue a busy summer of live performances with appearances across Europe, including Green Man Festival in Wales. Also in the UK, the band will return to York and Southend for the first time in 52 years when they perform at York Barbican on August 25 and Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion on August 26, 2026 – just days after releasing their live album Sparks Live On The Moon.
