Jamie Lawson Announces April 2024 UK Tour

by | Dec 25, 2023

Ivor Novello award-winning singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson has announced a 5-date UK tour
beginning 9th April 2024. The tour sees him play 5 dates across the UK, including regions he has never headlined before.
The announcement follows on from a series of dates Jamie performed through late 2023 (his
first in over 4 years) celebrating the release of his 6th album Little Weaknesses, a record that
chronicles his earliest years of fatherhood with a newfound creative energy, and brims with
optimism for the future. The 2024 dates will give audiences another opportunity to whiteness
his most poignant and heartfelt work to date, as well as fan favourites such as his breakthrough hit ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’.

Speaking on his newly announced dates, Jamie said: “Having not done a headline tour in four
years I have to admit I was a little anxious and nervous as to how it would feel being back out on the road. Fortunately for me it couldn’t have gone better. The audiences were, as ever, kind and lovely and welcomed me back with open arms. Which makes it much easier to decide to do it all again in the new year! I can’t wait to get out and sing again in London, Nottingham, Liverpool, Bristol and Sunderland, as well as a return to Germany. Bristol has always been very kind to me, as has London and Nottingham. I don’t think I’ve ever done a headline show in either Liverpool or Sunderland so that’ll be new and exciting too.”

Jamie will be performing UK dates at:
TUESDAY 9 APRIL – Omeara, London
SUNDAY 14 APRIL – Bodega Social, Nottingham
TUESDAY 16 APRIL – Music Room, Liverpool
THURSDAY 18 APRIL – The Louisiana, Bristol
SATURDAY 20 APRIL – Pop Recs Sunderland

Little Weaknesses is Jamie’s return to music after the four-year break that saw the birth of his
son in 2020. “Originally, I had intended to take six months off when he came along. And then the pandemic hit, and I had what felt like three years off,” he says.

The time away instilled him with a desire to re-wire his creative process, following a period of immense career highs that included performances at Wembley Stadium and Croke Park, and tours with Ed Sheeran and James Blunt. Fatherhood brought a new sense of direction and meant any music he left his young family to play, perform or promote had to fulfil him completely.

Jamie recently shared the lyric video for current single When It Comes to Love, featuring his
young son. ‘When It Comes To Love’ is one of Little Weaknesses’ warmest
moments, existing as an ode to his son in the form of a Van-Morrison-meets-Jack Johnson
singalong. In its pure representation of the unconditional love of parenthood, ‘When It Comes
To Love’ encompasses the life-lessons that led to the production of this album.

Returning to music as a father, Jamie realised that any work he created had to be important enough to justify taking brief moments away from his new family – something he’s achieved through the most emotional and sincere lyricism of his career so far. Delivering a much-needed dose of joy into the world, there’s even a cameo appearance from his son at the end of the song (making him the album’s youngest collaborator).

“Having that time settled me into a style of music that I wanted to make that I wasn’t making,” he shares. “Now, I would say this record is not that far away from the others, but it does feel much more cohesive. I remember listening to some playlists, like Lost In The Woods or Fresh Folk, and just thinking: ‘Oh, this is where I should be sitting. This is the music I love. This is the music I get the most out of. ’It’s all quite simple, but it’s all quite beautiful. And there’s proper lyrical content, something going on that makes me think about things. Those are the songs I wanted to write.”

Little Weaknesses is 14 tracks of concise, emotive, painterly beauty. It’s a record that sees Jamie
wholeheartedly embrace collaboration, working alongside a close-knit group of artists and
friends, including multi-genre violinist Isabella Baker who arranged strings for six songs and
songwriters Simon Aldred (aka Cherry Ghost) and Jack McManus. The entire album was crafted in Jamie’s music room in his family residence in Manchester and recorded by producer collaborator Tim Ross at his home studio in Twickenham.
