Katie Pruitt Releases New Single ‘Little Boxes’
Acclaimed Americana and indie-folk singer-songwriter Katie Pruitt has released her newest single ‘Little Boxes’.
Written by Pruitt and produced by Isaiah Beard (Jobi Riccio, Jack Van Cleaf), the timely track examines our growing dependence on technology and the quiet isolation that can come with constant digital connection. Inspired by her own realisation that she had become consumed by screens, ‘Little Boxes’ encourages listeners to put down their devices and reconnect with the people and world around them. “I want to find the key to free me from this digital cage,” Pruitt sings as she reflects that technology has only aided in dividing our world even further.
“It’s so wild that we spend half our lives on these devices, when what we’re craving so badly is true connection,” shares Pruitt. “I want to go outside, talk to my neighbours, connect with people and the world around me instead of sitting inside staring at a rectangular box all day.”
Building on the momentum of lead single ‘Blackout’, ‘Little Boxes’ is the latest preview of Fools for the Fleeting, coming September 18 via Rounder Records. With themes of nature, natural disasters both physical and metaphorical, and untethering oneself from technology and distraction in favour of human connection, the 10-track album finds Pruitt searching for hope and ways to move forward in a world that feels increasingly chaotic and uncertain.
Fools for the Fleeting follows Pruitt’s acclaimed 2024 release Mantras and her acclaimed debut album Expectations, released in 2020. Known for her raw and moving live performances, Pruitt creates spaces for reflection, vulnerability, and connection with audiences. This fall, she’ll bring the new music on the road for her 33-city Fools For the Fleeting Tour, plus will play Nashville’s AmericanaFest – see her full dates below.
