Kay Iris Announce New Single ‘Goldrush’
The Hastings-based musicians are pleased to announce their brand-new single ‘Goldrush which will be released on Thursday 30th July 2026.
Kay Iris supported Doves at the Summer Nights by the Sea festival at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, Brave Rival at The Carlisle in Hastings and Picture Parlour at The Piper in Hastings which was part of their Independent Venue Tour in partnership with Music Venue Trust in July 2025.
Kay Iris also opened for The Lottery Winners at The De La Warr Pavillion in May 2025.
The legendary radio presenter John Kennedy from Radio X picked the band to open for the event- he also hosted it and leading up to the evening their song ‘Stories We Tell’ featured multiple times on Radio X.
Only a short while after the band’s inception in 2024, they have already found success performing at several major UK festivals including; Pub In The Park, Big Feastival, The Vegan Campout, Lakefest, Foodie Fest and Country Calling.
Discussing the new track, Kay Iris explained:
‘Goldrush portrays the story of coming from nothing and braving the unknown to become something. Using the California gold rush as an allegory for navigating the music industry as independent artists, risking it all and betting on your hard work turning into success. It is through harsh roads, untrodden lands, unforgiving conditions, risky ventures and an iron will, that glimmers of gold are found.’

Their signature sound incorporates Country, Americana and Rock, with distinct compositions that combine ethereal vocals, memorable riffs and thought-provoking lyrics. Taking inspiration from ‘Fleetwood Mac, Tedeschi Trucks Band’, ‘Joni Mitchell’, Aerosmith and ‘Laci Kaye Booth’.
Creating sounds for sustainability – Kay Iris intends to use their platform to help promote sustainable and ethical lifestyle choices. Past projects include their ‘One Tank One Tree’ tour, in which they partnered with ‘Tree Nation’ to donate trees to reforestation projects, based on how far they travelled. Looking forward, they hope to attain a line of sustainable and ethically sourced merchandise, to perform at ecofriendly and UK Americana festivals such as ‘Shambala’, ‘Boomtown’, ‘The Long Road’ and ‘State Fayre’ as well as supporting conservational charities and venues.
