Kezia Gill Releases Poignant, Career-spanning Video for ‘Life You Always Dreamed Of’
Singer, songwriter and UK country powerhouse, Kezia Gill – recently seen touring the UK & Europe with multiple Grammy-winner, Rodney Crowell – has released a video for the poignant, life-affirming track, ‘Life You Always Dreamed Of’.
About the video, Kezia says, “This is an emotional one. It feels like watching 35 years in three and a half minutes. The song itself is an honest unveiling of my place in the music industry; a promise to keep pushing and a determination to prove that I have something to say – I feel this video shows how I have physically done that; years’ worth of gigging, rowdy pubs and big dreams, all leading to a hometown show at the iconic Rock City in Nottingham, celebrating my first Number One album. I’m proud of myself and I’m proud of this video.”
‘Life You Always Dreamed Of’ is taken from the critically acclaimed album, All On Red, released earlier this year to high praise from fans and media alike, sending it to the top of the UK country chart; support from the media includes a Radio 2 playlist, multiple Planet Rock A-Lists, plus a national daytime TV appearance on Jeremy Vine.
Produced and mixed by US artist, Alyssa Bonagura, along with a selection of award-winning musicians, All On Red is a bold new chapter in the career of an artist who continues to secure awards and nominations from multiple bodies allied to the genre, including ‘Entertainer of the Year’ at last year’s British Country Music Association Awards.
Kezia adds, “This is the best album I’ve written; it feels like a body of work that combines the sound and skill associated with Nashville with what I stand for in terms of storytelling and honesty as a proud British artist. The title of the record encapsulates the process. I went all in… I put it ‘All On Red’!”
Drawing on her Celtic heritage — Kezia hails from a musical family of Irish descent — All On Red sees one of country’s rising stars hitting the jackpot, so expect heartfelt songwriting, a deep respect for the proud traditions of country music, plus a self-confidence that shines across the 11 tracks.
It’s an album rooted in years of music industry experience, and the culmination of a creative process that draws on blues, Irish folk and Americana just as much as country – traditional and modern. “It’s a Nashville quality record with a British heart,” reflects Kezia, as she describes the genesis of a remarkable record that’s been a lifetime in the making.
Following a hugely successful headline tour in February, Kezia will be appearing at a number of festivals this summer, including a mainstage slot at the inaugural State Fayre in Chelmsford, an event headlined by Kings Of Leon, Alanis Morissette and The Lumineers.
