ReDiscovered All Stars Album Announced
Chart topping icons of 80s and 90s music embark on an extraordinary adventure of musical rediscovery, as they work with DJ Mick Brown to hand-pick and re-record their favourite personal song of all time, all in one outstanding album of hits – ‘Re-Discovered All Stars’, out Friday 24th November 2023.
Sinitta, Leee John, Junior, Doris Pearson (Five Star), David Grant, Kym Mazelle – are just a few of the names that embark on this album journey of personal re-discovery, choosing their favourite song of all time, which could be either a hit of their own, an original, or their absolute favourite song by another artist, re-imagined in their own distinct style.
‘ReDiscovered All Stars’ is the brain-child of DJ Mick Brown and Mauro Dirago (who’s one of the instrumental pioneers behind globally renowned Elvis and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra album ‘If I Can Dream’), and is a concept previously unseen from our 80s icons; and is the second album in the series.
“Re-Discovered All Stars’ is a dream come true for all of us artists on the album,” comments Sinitta, “It’s a way for us to relive our favourite song of all time, in our own personal style. It’s like choosing your favourite chocolate from the box and having enough to share round with everyone. Wonderful.”
The concept was created by friends Mick Brown and Mauro Dirago. We all know Mick Brown for his Capital Radio days, his chart hits and now for his slots on Radio Jackie and Delight Radio. Mauro himself was a teen artist with PWL Records (where he and Mick met), and one of the pioneers behind the globally successful Elvis Presley Royal Philharmonic Orchestra albums. Together with producer, Yoad Nevo, (Sia, Goldfrapp, The Pet Shop Boys, Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, Sophie Ellis Bextor – to name a few), the pair wanted to create a compilation album with a difference; with tracks that have inspired the stars of the past. Re-Discovered All Stars was born.
“Every track tells a story that we never knew about the stars of the 80s,” comments Mauro, “Their choice of song, and how it’s inspired them, reveals a side to each artists that we wouldn’t normally have seen. Learning what moves and inspires the music makers themselves, and re-discovering those songs through each icon’s own distinctive style, has been magical.”
“Joining forces with Mauro on this musical journey has been incredible,” says Mick Brown. “We’re so used to spinning the chart tracks of these stars, but to hear them singing the songs that they personally love, that they’ve hand-picked as their favourite song of all time because it has special meaning to them – that’s been amazing to share with them. This album is truly a precious piece of music. I imagine everyone’s gonna want a copy in their Christmas stocking this year.”
