Revenant Announce New EP
Rising UK rockers Revenant are thrilled to announce their highly anticipated new EP ‘Black Dogs and Sad Men’ for release 10th October 2025 on CD and all good digital platforms. The EP is also combined with their acclaimed previous release ‘Best Medicine’ in a strictly limited edition to 100 copies coloured vinyl run bearing the moniker ‘Black Dogs and Best Medicine’, available for pre-order now direct from the band HERE.
The band muse on the overall theme, “We took a long look at ourselves in the mirror and asked ourselves “What’s the problem this time?” We face some deeper and darker sides of our hearts and minds and lay it out on the table in black and white. It’s an emotional rollercoaster made of massive riffs and catchy choruses, we don’t take our time with this one, it’s about getting straight to the point and keeping you there.” Accompanying the release, the defiant and fiery opening track and lead single ‘Lie You’re Living’ flies out of the gates, “It’s about fake people talking behind your back, people who take whatever they can from you and give nothing back, the people who have given you grief for a long time and at long last you’re standing up to them” with the accompanying video catching them at their live best and gives a glimpse behind the scenes creating and recording in the studio.
On the genesis of the 5 track EP they open up further, “We explore a full spectrum of emotions ranging from aggressive defiance, helpless despair, unity and compassion, decadent lust, and self reflective acceptance…we’re sure everyone will be able to relate and find something they connect with. It’s a collection of tunes that we’ve played live for a year or more now so we know people are going to love hearing how we’ve taken them from the stage and honed them into what they’ve become.” All of the tracks were self-produced by the band, recorded at Studio 91 in Berkshire with mastering handled by Dave Draper (The Wildhearts, Terrorvision, Dodgy).
Formed in 2023, the 4-piece from Newbury/Basingstoke consisting of Sam Lay (vocals, guitar) Matt Hudson (guitar), Robin Nutley (bass) and Carl Donoghue (drums) bring a huge rock sound with a southern spin and have had favourable comparisons to rock household names from Chris Cornell and Alter Bridge through to Black Stone Cherry. Their debut EP ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ was released to critical acclaim in 2024 with Powerplay Magazine enthusing “One of most refreshing and exciting sounds around.” The band are making waves on the live circuit having wowed at shows and festivals alike including Firevolt and most recently Maid Of Stone receiving an emphatic ovation from the crowd with Jace Media proclaiming them “a band in full command of their sound and audience.” This is all reflected in their live album release ‘What A Time To Be Live’ followed by sophomore EP ‘Best Medicine’ which received praise high and wide; “Classy swirl of southern dirt, pensive twists and bright 70s flair” Classic Rock Tracks of The Week, “This will put them firmly on the map” Rock Radio UK, “An absolutely excellent EP from start to finish” Metalplanet Music and gained them global airplay including BBC Introducing.
Revenant are bringing their message to the masses that this isn’t just a bit of fun, “We have a strong energy of unity and aim to inspire people to reach out and show love to those that matter most to them and playing live is where it’s at for us, we just love vibing with everyone and hanging out after.” 2025 has already seen them play to packed out crowds and continues seeing them take the stage at Steel Paws festival along with a plethora of shows including support to Brave Rival, Black Eyed Sons, their London debut with The Dirty Denims at the world famous Cart and Horses along with co-headline shows with stablemates AK & The Red Kites. In addition to the new EP, they also offer to all those who sign up to ‘The Revenant Ones’, the band’s fan club, via their website a free 7-track live acoustic EP download. Firmly flying their flag for all to see, “We write about what we know and always want to tell a story or take you on a journey. We carry that high where we tell you what we want and deliver it with both barrels.”
