Sarah delivers a heart wrenching Xmas stocking full of emotion with her unique re-working of Joni Mitchell’s Christmas classic ‘River’. Rich, velvety and opulent vocals expose a vulnerable side to McGuinness, as she presents us with the multi-layers of passion that Christmas brings. Juxtaposing that deep tear-jerking sentiment, McGuinness livens up the party with a bonus track ‘Christmas Everyday (No More Sad Songs)’, which is a slice of pure melodic joy. Cascading jingle bells weave their way around McGuinness’ distinctive vocals, casting her spell of blissful happiness over that one important day of the year. Hang up your troubles, and open your hearts to laughter and Christmas cheer. Juxtaposing this sleigh-full of fun.
Sarah is also currently starring in her own one-woman cabaret ‘Grit, Glitter and Gaslight’ at Camden’s Etcetera Theatre – running until 5th December. Following an acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe, The Emmy-nominated documentary maker and musician, also known as an industry muse to entertainment legends, has turned the lens on herself to present a brand new poignant and powerful cabaret telling her life story. Through the music of David Bowie, Kate Bush, Kurt Weill, Sondheim and Kander & Ebb’s ‘Cabaret’ as well as a few of her own songs, this production turns Sarah’s Emmy award winning documentary process on herself, and takes audiences on a thrilling journey of her life. Be a part of the rallying cry for a better world whilst getting an intriguing insight into life amongst A-list celebrities, and hearing about the unexpected bonds formed with Hollywood legends.
An independent artist, stomping her indelible stilettoed mark onto the global music scene and live theatre stages, Sarah McGuinness personifies glamour. But, behind the lush lashes and perfect pout, there’s a steely inner core defining her music and everything she stands for. Fuse Marianne Faithful, Sandi Shaw and Dusty Springfield with the spirit of Lulu and a dash of silver-screen mystery, serve shaken (not stirred) and embrace with the wisdom of this modern girl as she packs a meaningful punch within her lyrics.
