US Jazz Singer Anaïs Reno Announces New Album On PX Records
One of the most hotly-tipped new jazz singers to emerge in recent years, 19-year-old, New York-based Anaïs Reno is set to release a new album on PX Records, the label launched earlier this year by the live music arm of PizzaExpress Jazz Club. Anaïs Reno Live At PizzaExpress Live in London features Reno’s assured take on a collection of re-imagined jazz standards including ‘Yardbird Suite’, ‘The Girl From Ipanema’ and ‘Just Squeeze Me’.
Anaïs Reno:
“To be in a setting that granted me artistic freedom the way PizzaExpress did, and to work with a band as receptive, flexible and stimulating as that on the record made me so grateful I got to experience it all through unjaded glasses.”
Born in Switzerland in 2003 to an opera singer father and violinist mother, Anaïs Reno moved with her parents to New York as a baby. She became actively involved in the performing arts from the age of 8 and has had a rapidly growing career in recent years as a singer with a love for jazz and the Great American Songbook. At 12 years old, she began to sit in regularly at Birdland in New York at Jim Caruso’s open mic nights. After winning the 2016 Forte International Competition’s Platinum Award at Carnegie Hall, Anaïs went on to achieve Second Place at Michael Feinstein’s Great American Song Book Academy competition in the summer of 2018 being, at 14, the youngest contestant ever. At the age of 16, Anaïs released her debut album Lovesome Thing, which was co-produced by her mother, violinist Juliet Kurtzman, and Birdland Jazz Club owner Gianni Valenti, and which debuted at number six in the jazz charts.
