Dynamyte — Show Me You (Single)

by | Jun 6, 2021

Dynamyte is a vocalist, songwriter, drummer and Tae Kwon Do black belt born in Boston, Massachusetts. Securing a degree in Social Psychology from Brown University, DYNAMYTE is fascinated by what makes people tick and has embraced that thought process in her songwriting.

The soft drumming on her Gretsch kit has a real jazz fusion vibe and I wonder if she has heard of drummer Alphonse Mouzon as she has created this summery groove that is perfect for her neo-soul vocal.  Her voice might appeal to fans of Amy Winehouse, Dionne Bromfield and New York funk-soul band Lawrence with its elements of jazz and pop sprinkled in for good measure.

Lyrically, ‘Show Me You’ is asking someone to not hide behind their social media profile showing people “what they want them to see” but rather show people “their real self”.  The line “I want you, not who you wanna be” sums the mindset up perfectly IMHO.

In conclusion, Dynamyte is a multi-talented woman with a textured voice and the ability to create a track that not only gives you the opportunity to stop and think but also the chance to dance along to it in the sunshine as well. This is a stone-cold hit from this rising star and I look forward to hearing more from Dynamyte in the coming months.
