Ivory Layne — Lonely Hearts (Single)
Ivory Layne is a woman who started the art of songwriting at the age of six and learnt the art of music production in her teenage years. As her career grew, she supported the likes of Andy Grammar and The Script amongst others and was then signed to Justin Timberlake’s artist development company Villa40.
The track ‘Lonely’ is taken from her new EP ‘Confetti’ which she crafted with Nick Atkinson and Edd Holloway (Lewis Capaldi, James Bay). A solemn piano intro sets the scene as Layne’s soft voice conveys the lyrics clearly and passionately.
Electronic drum beats kick in as the chorus builds as we hear “Don’t throw your hopes up high, No one wants to get hurt tonight” a sentiment that people can emotionally connect with. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter sounds wise beyond her years just like one of her contemporaries Sara Bareilles on her debut record ‘Little Voice’. A powerful offering that is destined for radio airplay and the perfect introduction to her EP.
