Every day we get new music through various sources to listen to and review and Man With A Mission is no different. A five-piece male band from Japan who wear menacing wolf masks whilst delivering punchy rock to the masses.

Their brand new single ‘Freak It!’ had been selected as the official song for Japan’s Sunwolves Super Rugby team and whenever your music is chosen for a sport team, film theme or television show it is a huge honor.

Interestingly, MWAM have enlisted the accompaniment of the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra to help them ‘Freak It!’ and man does it work! Hypnotic clapping intro leads us in and then the Ska horns kick in with Tokyo Tanaka (lead vocals) and Jean-Ken Johnny (vocals & guitar) rapping and singing with such fire.

However, MWAM  also have kick-a** rhythm section courtesy of Kamikaze Boy (bass) and Spear Rib (drums) who blend perfectly with the orchestra’s percussionists to create a dance favourite. In addition, just like Caro Emerald the band has a DJ called DJ Santa Monica who throws out samples throughout the brass to merge modern and vintage.

The band’s ability to mix ska, rock and hip-hop into one showcases their versatility as musicians and their ability to create a catchy song that will not only work on radio but also at a live gig.

In conclusion, ‘Freak It!’ is a fun single that will only garner more interest when Japanese rugby fans hear it and I have feeling that a MWAM live show is quite an experience!
