Miss Krystle – Monster (Single)

Miss Krystle is an artist that I first heard about through YouTube as she actively and posts a variety of videos on her channel including her original material, her versions of other tracks, music videos and more.

An interesting fact about this US artist is that in addition to the music creation side of things, Miss Krystle is also a qualified Entertainment Attorney and owner of Delgado Entertainment Law and regularly provides informative, detailed advice videos on her separate ‘Top Music Attorney’ YouTube channel (I will put the channel links below.)

Her latest single ‘Monster’ is co-written by herself, Gabriel Benjamin and That Orko who also produced the track.

The eerie intro with chimes and a tone which is reminiscent of a Xylophone sets the scene as Miss Krystle sings at the nine-second mark “Darkness falling, all is quiet.” Her lead vocals are clear and actually quite soothing with (That) Orko creating a slick atmospheric production which doesn’t bury the vocal in the final mix which is something that can happen.

The ‘Dark Pop’ sound as Miss Krystle calls it, creates images of dark, cold winter evenings filled with a slight sense of impending doom on ‘Monster’ much like powerful Finnish Heavy Metal vocalist Tarja Turunen.

Whilst Miss Krystle can put her own spin on say a track by Korn or even a Disney classic such as The Little Mermaid’s ‘A Part Of Your World’, it is her original material which truly allows her to showcase not only her well-controlled voice but also her abilities as a songwriter.

Overall, I am very impressed with Miss Krystle and if you enjoy the music of artists such as the aforementioned Tarja, Delain, In This Moment and Lacuna Coil then perhaps give ‘Monster’ a spin and check out her previous songs including ‘Something In The Way’ if you can.
