The Clear
America (Single)
(Yellow Brick Music)
The Clear are a three-piece band from Sheffield who specialize in West Coast pop music. ‘America’ is their new single and it begins with electric guitar that immediately makes you think of a sunset going down across the United States of America. It is clear that acts such as The Byrds, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have influenced The Clear’s overall musical style as they sing about this magical place they have heard about in the films called America. It is the idea of ‘The American Dream’ that has excited people’s imaginations for years which allows people to relate to this song in such a big way.
If you close your eyes whilst you listen to this, you do feel like you are flying high in the sky over locations like Mount Rushmore, the deserts of Texas and a brightly-lit New York City. The soft drumming and dream-like state optimistic lyrics scream radio hit and I think it would be perfect as a sync for an airline or travel agency television advert.
Over the years many artists have gone for the calming West Coast sound with Zervas and Pepper, The Beauty Room, Public Symphony and The Silver Seas to name a few all carving out successful music careers with this approach. I would like to hear what else The Clear has to offer in the way of recorded material as I felt this was a pleasant offering.
