The RAH Band featuring Funmilayo – Vapour Trails (Single)
Here at JLTT we have followed the releases from The RAH Band closely as over their career they have secured two Top 10 UK chart hits, numerous international club smashes and a stellar production credit list with artists such as The Beatles, Chris Rea, Fleetwood Mac and Herbie Hancock (to name but a few).
During the year of the pandemic, the band’s founder Richard Hewson set to work studying his back catalogue of unreleased material and handpicking tracks for re-release. One of these songs to receive this treatment was ‘Vapour Trails’ which featured UK singer Funmilayo.
Opening with a rich piano sound surrounded by electronic keyboards, ‘Vapour Trails’ has a slight Eighties vibe and then the soulful voice of Funmilayo arrives singing emotionally charged lines such as “You held my heartbeat in your hand, you’ll always be the only one.”
Interestingly, I can’t help but think of the late David Bowie when I listen to the track’s production as even though it was recorded five years ago it has this futuristic quality that arrives when we need it most to brighten these darker days filled with fear and isolation.
To summarise, if you enjoy the vocal talents of Beverly Knight and Macy Gray then Funmilayo’s dulcet tones combined with the immensely talented RAH Band is the perfect pop remedy to your isolation blues.
