Louis & The Shakes – Losing My Mind (Single)

by | May 1, 2021

London-based quintet Louis & The Shakes have a new single, ‘Losing My Mind’ which is taken from their forthcoming album ‘How Badly Do You Want It’.

Opening with a punchy drum beat to set the scene, an electric guitar then springs into action with a vintage tone that is slightly eerie. Vocalist Louis has developed a vocal style that is not dissimilar to Singaporean singer-songwriter Jonny Ong and Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys. An indie sound that will excel in a live setting when live music resumes.

They have tried to pepper the song with references to psychedelia but it sounds more like a Black Keys album cut than The Doors which is no bad thing of course. The meaty rhythm section brings the number home with the determined bassline finding the groove.

Overall, Louis and The Shakes seem knowledgeable in the songwriting department with a hooky chorus that would go down a treat at a music festival such as Reading and Leeds. It will be interesting to hear a full-length record though to really understand what Louis and The Shakes are really all about.
