Steve Balsamo and Dai Griff – Summer Rain (Single)
South Wales, United Kingdom based songwriter, musician and producer Dai Griff has accrued at least five years of experience in the world of digital arts of sound and composition at university since 2016.
Fast forward to July 2023 and under Dai Griff Productions he has released a ten-track album entitled ‘Electro Funk!’ The latest single ‘Summer Rain’ has enlisted the powerful textured vocals of fellow singer-songwriter and musician Steve Balsamo and is also a friend of JLTT.
A smooth electronic synth tone immediately hits the listeners ears as Balsamo sings “Let’s take a long cool drink, for the long hot nights” setting the summery vibes early on. The keyboards and synths gradually build and build blending together to reach the catchy earworm chorus.
The song reminds me of a few popular 2010s electronic pop songs including Duke Dumont’s ‘I Got You’ featuring Jax Jones and Avicii’s ‘Hey Brother’ which features the lead vocals of Dan Tyminski whose music background was the Americana genre not dissimilar to that of Steve Balsamo who has been in bands such as The Storys and Balsamo Collins Riley.
The production sounds professional with an emphasis on the chorus as Dai Griff Productions appears to be targeting the streaming services and radio airplay for maximum exposure.
Overall, ‘Summer Rain’ is the perfect slice of summer electro-pop complete with the four key elements found in hit songs: A good rhythm, a catchy melody, easy-to-remember lyrics, and a repeated chorus. Personally, ‘Summer Rain’ is one of my favourite tracks of 2023 and I look forward to hearing more collaborations between Dai Griff and Steve Balsamo.
