Lulu Announces Extra Date as Gateshead Added to ‘Champagne for Lulu’ Tour 2024
Due to mammoth public demand, our national treasure, Lulu, today announces that she’s adding an extra date to her ‘Champagne For Lulu’ UK tour – confirming that she’s coming to Gateshead, The Glasshouse International on Friday 12th April 2024. The tour now comprises of six spectacular live dates in April, kicking-off in her hometown of Glasgow, and touring through Manchester, Southampton, Birmingham, Gateshead; culminating at The London Palladium on 17th April – the most monumental dates in the star’s 60-year career.
“Since we announced the tour a few weeks ago, the response has been overwhelming, I’m genuinely blown away by the love you’ve all shown me!” smiles Lulu, “So, it was clear that I needed to extend the party and add an extra date to the tour… so Gateshead I’m coming to town! I can’t wait, come join me, it’s gonna be a blast!”
On 17 April 1964, a 15 year-old Lulu stormed into the UK charts with her iconic, ‘Shout’, a song that would turn the wee girl from Glasgow into a cherished national treasure. Now, exactly 60 years (to the day) since she released ‘Shout’, this pioneer of popular culture prepares to celebrate her 75th birthday year with fans on her “Champagne For Lulu” Tour ending at the London Palladium on Wednesday 17 April 2024.
Transcending generations with a lifetime of global success, which boasts accolades including being a Eurovision winner, a Bond Theme singer, releasing the biggest selling record in the US (‘To Sir With Love’ 1967), and one of the first ever pop artists to perform behind the Iron Curtain in Poland… not to mention receiving an OBE, opening the closing ceremony for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, reaching No1 with the biggest ever boyband since The Beatles, and still going strong as she performed two-nights at the Hollywood Bowl this Summer – Lulu continues to be at the absolute forefront of captivating live entertainment to this very day. And THAT’S why the UK proudly and ferociously heralds Lulu as one of our most precious pop icons – the glittering jewel in our entertainment cultural crown.
