After topping the Music Week Commercial Pop Chart with her anthemic dance-pop hit ‘Wildfire’ and ushering in a bold new era with her acclaimed second EP ‘Red,’ London-based rising pop artist Allegra returns with her most exciting project yet. Out now, ‘Unreleased EP’ uncovers a secret collection of previously unheard tracks, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the next stage of her artistic evolution.

Your new EP Unreleased is out now. How did you want to approach the making of the EP?

The funny thing is, I didn’t actually go into the studio thinking I’m making an EP. It happened
much more naturally than that. These were songs I’d written over the past year that just kept
staying in my head. They didn’t quite fit the world of Red, but I loved them too much to just leave
them sitting there, snapshots of where I was at different moments.

Where did you record the EP and who produced it?

All the tracks were recorded in London and I worked with a few different producers, including
Scott Stoddart, Tim Gosden and Giuseppe D. I really enjoy working with different people
because everyone brings their own energy and ideas into the room.

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

My studio sessions normally turn into therapy sessions! I’ll walk in and someone will ask,
“What’s the mood today?” and suddenly I’m telling everyone what’s happened in my life for the
next three hours. Then somehow a song comes out of it!

I think that’s why these songs feel so personal. They’re connected to real conversations and real
moments in my life. There’s also always a lot of laughing. I can’t be serious for too long, so even
if we’re writing something emotional, we’ll normally find something completely stupid to laugh
about.

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones or recording equipment to help you get a particular sound or tone for the record?

I’m probably the worst person to ask about the technical names of everything! I’m much more
instinctive when I’m recording. For me it’s about how something makes me feel.

Which of your new EP tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

Happiest would probably be “Romantic.” It’s got that hopeful, slightly delusional side of me
that still wants to believe in the fairy tale, even when I probably know better!

Angriest would definitely be “Sober.” There’s a lot of frustration in that song and I think you
can really hear it in the lyrics. It captures that moment when you’ve had enough and you’re
finally saying the things you’ve probably been holding back for too long.

Most reflective would be “I Feel Sorry For Ya.” That one comes from a completely different
place. It’s less about anger and more about looking back at a situation with some distance and
seeing it for what it really was. There’s something quite powerful about reaching that point
where instead of being hurt by someone, you almost feel sorry for them.

That’s actually one of the things I like about this EP. You get lots of different sides of me rather
than one emotion running through the whole project.

Was it a difficult EP to write?

Emotionally, there were definitely moments that were difficult because everything I write comes
from something real. Music is basically therapy for me, so whatever I’m feeling or going through
tends to find its way into the studio.

But creatively, I wouldn’t say it felt forced or difficult. If anything, it was quite freeing because I
wasn’t writing thinking, “This needs to be the next single” or “This has to fit an EP.” I was just
writing. That’s probably why these songs stayed with me, there was something really honest
about them.

Who designed the EP artwork?

The artwork actually came about completely by accident! I was shooting with photographer
Jack Alexander for a magazine feature, and as we were shooting this particular look, I just
knew straight away that it had to become a sleeve. There was something about the image that
felt so right.

The funny thing is, the Unreleased EP wasn’t even in the pipeline at that point! We decided to
hold the images back because I knew I wanted to use them for something special. Then, as the
idea for Unreleased started to take shape, everything just fell into place. It all came together
really organically, which actually feels perfect for this EP because that’s pretty much how the
whole project happened.

One of the tracks is “Romantic”. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

I’m a hopeless romantic, basically! “Romantic” is about still being the girl who believes in the
fairy tale, even when experience probably tells you that you should know better.
There’s a line about broken boys making me feel magic, which pretty much sums it up! I think
I’ve always been someone who sees the good in people and wants to believe in them, even
when they’re a little bit broken.

There’s also the Santa reference in the song. As a child you’re told this magical story, and then
you grow up and find out the truth. Love can feel a bit like that. You get older, you get your heart
broken and you realise relationships aren’t always the fairy tale you imagined. But part of me
still chooses to believe in magic. Maybe that’s silly, but I’d rather be that way. I guess I’ll die a
romantic!

Do you have any visualisers to accompany the EP?

Yes! We shot the visualisers in a really cool studio in London. I specifically wanted that studio
energy because, basically, these were the tracks that got left on the studio floor gathering dust,
haha! So it felt really fitting to bring them back to life in that environment.

I love that there’s a little full-circle moment to it. These songs had been sitting there waiting for
their time, and now they finally have their own project and their own visuals. It all feels very true
to the whole idea behind Unreleased.

Do you have any live dates planned in the UK/Europe in 2026/2027?

There are definitely conversations happening, and performing more is something I really want to
do. I don’t want to announce anything before I’m allowed to, otherwise my managers will kill me!
But live shows are absolutely something I want to explore more going into 2027. Come and join
