Blackwater Redemption

Black Water Redemption have announced the release of their debut album, self-titled Black Water Redemption, arriving on 2nd October 2026, alongside a run of UK headline dates and the release of their brand-new single, ‘Walk Beside You’, available now on all streaming platforms.

Who is in Black Water Redemption, how did you meet and what do you play?

Adam Chambers – Vocals

Tyler Hains – guitar

Dan de Vries – Bass

Chris Allan – drums

Myself, Adam and Dan all went to the same school, we actually weren’t really in the same friends circles and never really knew we could all play / sing. Over the years from all of us being in various bands we ended up sharing the stage together. When it came to putting together the lineup of BWR, me and Dan were already playing together in Western Sand and wanted to create a new sound. Adam stepping in on vocals was the perfect fit, we had seen him do a spoof cover of Celine Dion, it’s a hilarious video but the vocals were INSANE, we knew he was the guy from the moment we heard it. As for Chris, we were looking for a drummer and good drummers are rare, they are already in bands or just totally off with the breeze, luckily we were recommended Chris who was playing with Marco Mendoza at the time, Chris as much as he’s a hired gun is a integral part of the band, he has allot of input on how we shape the sound and sets and that’s what we wanted, someone who would be committed and creative.

What is your earliest musical memory?

My earliest musical memory is head banging and playing air guitar on my knees to Metallica enter sandman at my uncles wedding, I was 5, not 30 haha, although after a few JD’s anything can happen!

But playing guitar came about when I was 10/11, a guy called Enie Levae ( can’t remember how to spell his name ) but he turned up at my school, ran around the hall playing Eric Clapton ( proper school of rock style ) and yeah I picked up a leaflet and started taking lessons with him. He was a character. Luckily my Dad and mum have always been very supportive and got me my first acoustic guitar to learn, my dad went on to get me my 1st & 2nd electric guitars to get me on stage, I think he’s still waiting for me to pay him back haha

When did you begin songwriting?

So song writing for this album happened about 18 months ago, me and Dan were sat in a pub wondering if we were going to even carry on playing music. Not because we didn’t love to, but because at this point we didn’t have Adam and Chris on board. I remember Dan saying to me, maybe we should actually play something this week instead of sinking 3/4 pints and trying to decide WTF we’re going to do. After that, we wrote demos and recorded the music for the album within 10 months. As soon as we picked up the guitars it was just pouring out of us, all the pent up frustration, all the desire, without really knowing if we were going to be able to gig it

You have your new self-titled album released on 2nd October 2026. How did you want to approach the making of the album?

Honestly we had no approach and we are really lucky that we had the right people be drawn in to work with us. We used our good friend and long time recording engineer Paul O’Neill for guitars, bass and drums. Through Chris coming on board he introduced us to his good friend and college Drew Lowe, who then helped produce and mix the album and through him got working with Charlie Francis of synergy mastering to master the album. The approach with the songs was let’s just get out the best of what we’ve got from within us, same with Adam on vocals, I think Adam had allot of emotions he wanted to get out but didn’t have a band or platform to be able to do that on. When we gave him the album he just started nailing the tracks and focusing his energy into them.

The main thing about black water redemption is everyone’s input is what is needed to make it tick, theirs a plan but no plan, if it sounds good it stays, if it doesn’t it goes.

Where did you record the album and who produced it?

We recorded the album in a few different locations, Paul O’Neill recorded the drums bass and guitars for 90% of the tracks, we did the guitars and bass up in his studio in Wigan. Chris did all the drums down in our rehearsal space in Hampshire. Adam does a amazing job of recording all his vocals from home, he feels most comfortable doing it that way so he can get in the zone and lay down all the melodies and harmonies exactly how he wants them to sound. Drew Lowe did allot of the production, fine tuning the guitars / drums and bass to sound as great as what they do on the album.

Do you have any interesting, funny or memorable stories from the recording sessions?

Me and Dan are pretty terrible for having a few too many, so every time we are away recording we end up at a rock bar or two, maybe one / two / three nights too many, but for us it’s vacation from work. It always makes the recording process a little delicate in the morning, headphones on and repeated drum tracks to 10 double JD’s isn’t always ideal But we still nail the tracks. All other stories of recording in Wigan are for us to laugh about it private haha

Did you use any particular instruments, microphones, recording equipment to help you get a particular sound/tone for the record?

I think this record we really wanted to keep it pretty basic, we just wanted a hard hitting album but also something we could produce live, Adam added in a number of harmonies on his vocals which we’ve never thanked him for (we ain’t no Def Leppard) haha, but we also hired in Gareth Jones to play Keys on a track called “Fly Like The Crow”. That particular song had been a fan favourite in Western Sand and to be honest I just wanted to know what it would sound like on piano. The moment we heard him play it, it was a shivers moment, so on the record it went!

Which of your new album tracks hear you at your a) happiest, b) angriest and c) most reflective?

A ) possibly Stand For Something, or Lightning Strikes, I wouldn’t call them happy but lighter in topic and quite uplifting songs. Ones basically a lust song, everyone’s happy when they are lusting right haha

B) definitely between All Guns Blazing and I gave it all, all guns blazing is a nod to the outlaws and anti establishment, it never was intended that way, tbh it was born out of binging allot of western films, but somehow it feels pretty relevant right now.

C) easily Walk Beside You

Was it a difficult album to write?

Not really, as I said we had spent so much time wondering what we should do that I think we had this all built up inside of us, some songs took a couple of sessions to write others took 4/5 but on the whole the album kinda wrote its self. Which means album no 2 is definitely gonna be a b**** haha

Who designed the album artwork?

I had the concept of using the outlaws quotes in all guns blazing as the four horsemen of the apocalypse, which tied in with the whole “redemption” part of the band name, but Matt Wilkins is the genius, the guy is a amazing artist and has done stuff for everyone. He’s done a fantastic job on creating the artwork.

One of the tracks is ‘Walk Beside You’  which is out now. What was the story/inspiration behind the track?

 I wrote Walk Beside You to my children, one day when they might take an interest, they are 2&4 right now so it’s all about Frozen or Spider man haha. I think all parents get moments of realisation that you’re not always going to be around to take care of your children like how they are when they are small. I remember feeling this and wanting to write something for them to maybe listen to or take comfort in when I’m not there one day, it sounds morbid, I like to feel it’s a uplifting ballad haha.

Where is your hometown and could you please describe it in five words?

Hometown – we class Bournemouth and Southampton as our hometowns, as we live bang in the middle.

Five words – Beach, Pubs, Forest, Beer, horses.

How do you look after your voices?

Adam is constantly singing, but he works out, eats well, takes his vocals very seriously when he has recording or gigs coming up. The rest of us, well, less said about the better.

What two things do you hope to have achieved once you have left the stage?

That no 1 – The audience had a amazing time

That no 2 – no one broke a string or skin

Do you have any favoured stage instruments, effects, pedals, microphones etc?

I’m running the DSP Quad Cortex at the moment and it’s been a total game changer to my rig, the variation of sounds you can get on their is just amazing, f***ing expensive, but amazing

You are given the opportunity to write the score for a film adaptation of a novel that you enjoy. Which novel is it and why?

Rock version of Lord Of The Rings, helms deep +  some drop C# chugs = fellowship sucking diesel

Who are some of your musical influences? Do you have any recommendations?

So so many, anything from Metallica to Skynyrd, from Slipknot to Luke Combs.
