THERA – ‘everywhere, all at once’ EP
UK-based pop artist THERA has been on our radar for a while now. Her latest offering is a seven-track live EP which was recorded during her time opening for Jason Derulo on his European Tour.
Opener ‘déjà vu’ is taken from her set in Dublin, Ireland and is the prefect introduction to THERA and her sound. This is certainly a highlight for me as the electronic tones blend with the soaring electric guitar. Her voice is confident in the arena setting.
The quality of the material is on display with tracks including ‘fate’ and ‘do you see?’ allowing the listener to hear the different sides musically. The balance of emotive songs alongside upbeat pop is welcome.
The inclusion of Charli XCX’s ‘Break The Rules’ allows THERA to provide a slightly different approach to the song, rockier than the original. Although it can be difficult for an artist to make a cover song their own, it was clear that THERA achieved this.
The EP concludes with ‘rewind’ which was recorded at Prague’s O2 Arena, a Homecoming performance for her witnessed by her family and friends.
In conclusion, THERA does have a powerful lead vocal and this EP does capture the energy of her live set throughout the tour, especially with each track being recorded at a different stop on the tour.
It will be interesting to hear what THERA will release next as she continues to showcase her brand of pop music.
